#3  I occasionally hear govt procurement horror stories where they are forced to use ebay and such to find vacuum tubes and other antique electronic components. In light of that, this makes a lot of sense to me.

#2  A fabulous design at the time, just as the Polaris and Trident were. But missile technology has progressed quickly and the LGM-30 is very long in the tooth.

If we aren't going to do without (good luck with that) we need to bite the bullet and replace it with up-to-date tech. And down the road we will have to do the same with the Trident.

At least, for the moment, the LRSO is on track to supply a technologically current payload for the B21.
