WANF reports the incident happened around 11:15 a.m. when the Boeing 757 was headed to El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, Columbia. In a statement, Delta officials said the nose gear tire "came loose from the landing gear during the departure." Passengers were safely escorted off the aircraft and transported to the terminal by buses, according to the airline. "All customers and their bags were removed from the aircraft, transferred to the gate and onto a replacement aircraft," Delta officials said. "We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience." The FAA has initiated an investigation into the incident. Pete's on it! |
