In a statement, the government said heavy losses were inflicted on the members of the al-Shabaab who were at the scene of the strike. No independent sources verified the claims.
The statement said another operation took place last night in the Lower Shabelle region, targeting al-Shabaab, and the bases belonging to the group were destroyed in the raid.
"In the Lower Shabelle region, the army also destroyed enemy bases in that region. There are many losses to al-Shabaab in the operations carried out last night in the two regions," said the statement issued by the government.
