On March 30, the defense forces in the Avdiivsk direction repelled probably one of the largest tank attacks of the Russian army on Ukrainian positions since February 24, 2022. During the fighting, the enemy lost a third of its tanks, writes Forbes.
"It ended up being one of the biggest tank losses in Russia's entire 25-month war against Ukraine. When the smoke cleared, the Russians left behind a third of their tanks," Forbes writes.

According to the publication, a few weeks before Saturday's assault, the Russians mainly used infantry to advance west of the city. The reason was that they lacked vehicles after heavy losses during the capture of Avdiivka in mid-February.
However, the situation changed, and in the Avdiiv direction, the enemy again used armored vehicles, including tanks.
Thirty-six tanks and 12 BMP combat vehicles of the Russian Army's 6th Guards Tank Regiment, part of the 90th Tank Division, attacked along the road stretching from Russian-occupied Tonenko to the liberated village of Umanske, two miles to the west.
The Ukrainian 25th Brigade spotted the column and struck it hard. A total of 12 tanks and eight infantry fighting vehicles were knocked out.
The day after the assault, the Defense Strategy Center described the fighting around Tonenke as "positional," meaning that neither side had advanced.
Forbes suggests that, despite a severe shortage of ammunition, the Ukrainian brigades are still capable of confronting the Russian army using mines, artillery, anti-tank missiles and attack drones.
According to the information of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, the enemy has been trying to break through the defense of our troops in the bands of three brigades for several days in a row, daily throwing assault units into battle on equipment and on foot.
