The Russian army is trying to bypass Chasiv Yar on the flanks through other settlements and has now begun to storm Andriivka and Klishchiivka, west of Bakhmut, in order to reach the Siverskyi Donets - Donbas channel.
Nazar Voloshyn, the spokesman for the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops, said this on the air of the telethon, Ukrinform writes .
"The enemy is concentrating its efforts to break through our defenses west of Bakhmut, access to the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas channel, capture the settlement of Chasiv Yar, create conditions there for further advance to the Kramatorsk agglomeration. The enemy is trying to take Chasiv Yar into an operational encirclement," the spokesman said.
Despite the attempt to surround Chasiv Yar, the occupiers conduct unsuccessful assaults. However, they are still trying to capture the village of Ivanivske and the outskirts of Bohdanivka in order to enter Chasovoy Yar.
Voloshyn adds that the enemy is additionally storming Andriivka and Klishchiivka in an attempt to level the lines of defense and confrontation.
"In the area of ​​Klishchiivka, an increase in the personnel of the enemy army was noticed," Voloshyn noted.
Currently, most of the clashes are taking place in the Chasovoyarivsk direction, near Bilogorivka.
"There, the enemy is regrouping, bringing in ammunition, trying to demine our mined territories. However, he is not succeeding. Our soldiers are restraining the enemy," the spokesman said.
The spokesman also notes that the enemy has an advantage in ammunition and manpower. The Russians are practicing "meat assaults" again, and they are not sparing either their weapons or their equipment.
In order to capture Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region, the Russian army began to use tactics that were used during the offensive in Avdiivka. The enemy drops aerial bombs on the city.
Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that the higher Russian military leadership had set the task for its troops to capture Chasiv Yar by May 9.
