“We are not going to put up with such fakes and will continue to open the world community’s eyes to what is happening, talk about attempts to manipulate mass consciousness,” Zakharova said.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that a full investigation of this tragedy has not yet been carried out, and answers to specific questions have not been received: the names and surnames of those killed, their places of residence and registration, the time, place and cause of death, the results of a pathological examination indicating the nature injuries resulting in death.
“This means one thing: the Kiev regime is afraid of the investigation, because in the course of it they risk exposing themselves,” the diplomat said.
Russia has repeatedly said with facts that the events in Bucha are a cynical re-enactment. At the same time, according to Zakharova, the letter sent by the Ukrainian permanent mission does not contain evidence, but only unfounded accusations and references to “unambiguous conclusions.”
The most questions, according to the diplomat, are raised by Ukrainian data on the number of victims of the tragedy. In particular, the letter states that more than 9 thousand war crimes were allegedly documented in Bucha, which caused the death of 1,800 people.
“As you know, the Russian military was in the city from February 27 to March 31, 2022, that is, 33 days. Their number did not exceed several hundred people. Let's divide 9 thousand crimes into 33 days, we get 272. Based on the figures cited by Kiev, our military should have committed 272 crimes per day, or 11 crimes per hour without interruption for sleep and food. This is absolutely unrealistic,” added Zakharova.
As reported by Regnum news agency, the Ukrainian city of Bucha was under the control of the Russian military until the end of March 2022. Afterwards, the Russian Armed Forces left the locality. At the same time, Ukrainian and Western media published footage from the settlement, which allegedly showed the corpses of civilians. Kyiv blamed the Russian side for their deaths.
In turn, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation denied this information and called the published materials a provocation. In July 2022, volunteer and former French military man Adrien Boquet, who visited Ukraine, admitted that he witnessed a staging in Bucha.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov doubted that the West was conducting an investigation into the incident in Bucha. The Foreign Minister said he constantly reminds UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres of the importance of clarifying the situation, but there is no response from him.
