The army disclosed this on Thursday on its X account, adding that 48 people who were held as hostages by the faceless myrmidons were also rescued during the clash.

"In a separate coordinated effort, troops, alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force and Hybrid Forces Group, launched an offensive operation targeting terrorists' enclaves in Garin Gulukos and Sabil Huda.

"The operation led to the seizure and depletion of the terrorists' logistics, including a Hilux vehicle, a Canter Troops Carrying Vehicle, 7 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm ammunition, 2 cycle of violence

The statement said: "The troops laid in ambush around Kwaga Village for the terrorists, known for causing mayhem within the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, neutralizing one terrorist, while others fled in disarray.

"The quick reaction of the troops not only prevented a potential attack on innocent citizens in the area, but also led to the recovery of 2 AK 47 Rifles with magazines, as well as 2 motorbikes."

"Troops are currently in pursuit of the fleeing terrorists," it added.
