![]() In one question they plant the idea that using State PRISONERS for roadside clean-up, is akin to Slavery. In another they rename Abortion, "reproductive freedom". In another the purpose Same Day Voter registration? In another Great Firearm controls. |

#3 I asked some guys about this, knowing that Texas has long run prison farms, with prison labor. They also have mechanical shops. I am told that in the joint, you are provided basic upkeep and food. If you want anything else, it has to paid for by "commisary account". That covers snacks, gum, etc (but no smoking). If you have friends on the outside, they can put money in your account, up to a certain point. Or you can work labor jobs to earn money into your account. I also understand a couple of years ago, TDCJ was leasing prisoners to a company that ran a phone bank for credit card sales. Just who you want to give your CC info to. |

#1 13th Amendment - "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." Seems clear to me. It's judicial interpreation which does not match the text that is at question. Interesting how the judiciary seems to ignore the amendment process to reword these things. |
