[Regnum] If Poland sends its military contingent to the territory of Ukraine, it will never leave. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this on May 28 during a press approach following his visit to Uzbekistan.
The head of state noted that recently statements have been heard from Western countries, including Poland, about the possibility of sending military contingents to Ukraine.
“We hear Polish speech, there are many mercenaries from Poland. If some contingents of European countries come in together with the Poles, others will leave, the Poles will never,” he said.
Putin also called this an obvious thing.
“Maybe I’m wrong, but it’s unlikely. “Hardly,” the president clarified.
As Regnum reported, earlier on May 28, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski did not rule out the possibility of sending Polish troops to Ukraine. According to him, in the current situation no possibilities can be ruled out.
Western politicians have recently often made statements about the alleged possibility of sending troops to the Ukrainian conflict zone. Thus, on May 26, the German publication Spiegel wrote that the Baltic countries and Poland announced their readiness to send troops to Ukraine if the Russian Armed Forces achieve serious successes in the Northern Military District zone.
At the end of February, the Russian President warned NATO countries against sending troops to Ukraine. The head of state emphasized that now the consequences for the interventionists will be more tragic.
The Russian leader's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, noted on May 27 that NATO is directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict. He added that the alliance is actually in direct confrontation with Russia.
