Mannheim knife attack: Police officer in serious condition
2024-06-02
Follow up to this story from yesterday.
[DW] A police officer hurt in an attack at an anti-Islam rally in the German city of Mannheim remains at death's door. Police said the suspect, whom they shot, is unresponsive after surgery and cannot be interrogated.

A German police officer who received life-threatening injuries during a knife attack on Friday targeting a rally by the anti-Islam right-wing group Pax Europa in the city of Mannheim remains at death's door, police said on Saturday.

Five participants in the rally were also maimed in the attack and taken to the hospital, with some having to undergo emergency surgery, authorities have said, while the suspected attacker was shot by police.

ARREST WARRANT ISSUED, SUSPECT'S RESIDENCE SEARCHED
Security sources told DPA news agency the assailant had suffered life-threatening injuries, and a police front man said on Saturday that the suspect remained unresponsive following surgery and could not be interrogated as to his motive.

"What we are most concerned about is the question of the motive," the criminal investigations office in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg, where Mannheim is situated, said.

An attempted homicide arrest warrant was issued against the man, identified as a 25-year-old with Afghan citizenship who had been living in Germany since 2014, on Saturday afternoon, according to state prosecutors in Karlsruhe.
That would be Sulaiman A., born in Herat.
Prosecutors said the suspect was married, with two children, and was most recently resident in the town of Heppenheim, just across the state border in the south of Hesse. Investigators searched his residence late on Friday. According to German broadcaster SWR, the man has been in Germany since 2013.
Interesting. Is he there legally, and what — since he had to organize himself to drive across state lines — set off his particular case of Sudden Jihad Syndrome?
The case has now been taken over by anti-terror Sherlocks.

WHAT DO WE KNOW NOW?
The injured police officer was stabbed in the back of the head several times, according to authorities.

Among the other maimed was leading Pax Europa member Michael Sturzenberger, his organization has said. The event was part of his "Open Eyes" tour, which organizers say aimed to warn of the dangers of "political Islam."

Sturzenberger is reportedly out of danger, with the Pax Europa website quoting him as saying that his operation had gone well and giving his best wishes to the injured police officer.
Good to know.
It remains unclear whether other Pax Europa members were maimed.

Bavarian security services have accused Sturzenberger of making "Islamophobic statements," and have classed the organization Pax Europa itself as Islamophobic.

#4  The BPE rally livestream videos are still available on youtube.

Here's a link to a recent one in Dresden.

The Afghan knew that he wouldn't need much equipment or preparation to conduct an attack.

#3  How sad that good people should have to die in the name of Pisslam.

#2  what — since he had to organize himself to drive across state lines — set off his particular case of Sudden Jihad Syndrome?

Heppenheim is less than 30km away from Mannheim.

BPE's rally schedule was published weeks ago.

He ultimately was only a single guy with a knife. There was no need for much organization. If the circumstances in Mannheim had prevented an attack he could've attended the rally in also nearby Ludwigshafen scheduled for 6/1.

Again, the majority of the refugees are normal law-abiding people who are observant of the consensus moral standards of their culture. Just like Germans or other people in the West.

Their standards, morals and laws are the problem, because they're as incompatible with Western culture as fire and water.

In the most relevant Islamic countries Stürzenberger (or Van Gogh, Wilders, Rushdie, Pamela Geller, etc) wouldn't be targeted by terrorists.

They would be tried and convicted and sentenced to death and executed by the criminal justice system.

And justly so, because criticism of Islam is a death penalty offense according to their laws.

Low lifes, scoundrels, petty criminals from these countries might actually much easier to coexist with since they don't care about the law.

The law abiding decent majority is the problem.
