Drinking just one alcoholic beverage per day shortens your lifespan by this insane amount |
2024-07-08 |
[NYPOST] Hark! Is that prohibition knocking at the back door? Give it a nickle and tell it to go get a booster shot... On second thought, don't give it a nickle. As it turns out, consuming just one alcoholic beverage per day — whether it be a pint of beer, a glass of wine or a shot of your favorite spirit — can shorten your lifespan by approximately two-and-a-half months, one expert asserts Dr. Tim Stockwell, of the Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research, told Daily Mail that those who drink significantly more alcohol than that — about 35 beverages a week — could slash a staggering two years off their lifespan. |

#20 ..."can shorten your lifespan"..."one expert asserts"...your mileage may vary. Classic assumption of the specific outcome derived from generalizations. Clickbait in effect! |

#15 My doctors always ask me this question on every visit - 'How many beers do you drink in a week?' I answer by laughing, then saying 'Lots!' |

#13 As Willie Nelson said, "There are more old drunks than there are old doctors, so I guess I'll have another round." I don't know how much he drinks, but something is keeping him going at 91. |

#9 If you're really interested in any study, you've got to get past the biased 'reporting' and search read the study for assumptions, limitations, and need for more research to determine if it's worth worrying about. I learned this from the CDC-sponsored mask study reported as proof masks are vital one day, and useless the next day. Reading parts of the the original study showed it hopelessly flawed and pointless. Dig in! |

#8 The Canadians seem to be big into killing terminally ill patients, so this should be good news for the ghouls there. |

#7 Flip Side Not having the occasional single drink to relax, unwind and off load a bad day of stress, could reduce a person's life by 10+ years. |

#4 Okay I read the article, piffff! At my age, two months to two years is nothing, I'll keep drinking my bedtime shot or two a day! It's pretty much the only way I can keep the aches and joint pains at bay so I can sleep peacefully! |

#2 Rea;;y, then how do you account for all them 100 plus years olds that drink at least one shot a day? Maybe it's that whiskey is better for you than vodka? |

#1 If you don’t drink you’ll live longer… or at least it will seem that way. |
