[Regnum] Ships of the Pacific Fleet arrived at the Chinese port of Zhanjiang to participate in the joint naval exercises "Maritime Interaction - 2024", the Russian Defense Ministry reported on July 12.
“At the pier in the Chinese port, the corvettes Gromkiy and Rezkiy were met by representatives of the Navy of the People’s Liberation Army of China, the Russian embassy and the local administration,” the department said.
They noted that on the first day, a detachment of Russian ships took part in the opening ceremony of the exercises.
The Pacific Fleet in China has planned a busy program. There will be joint meetings of exercise leaders, a meeting of the working groups of the two countries on episodes of joint training, a tactical "fly-by", and a drawing of practical actions on maps. A cultural program with visits to local attractions has also been prepared for the crews of the Russian ships.
The Defense Ministry added that the practical phase of the training will take place from July 15 to 17. The crews of the Pacific Fleet and PLA Navy ships will conduct joint air defense exercises, anti-submarine exercises with the involvement of PLA naval anti-submarine aviation. Separately, the sailors will practice rescue tasks at sea.
As reported by IA Regnum, earlier the corvettes Rezkiy and Gromkiy left Vladivostok on July 8 to conduct joint exercises in the Asia-Pacific region. As part of the exercises, the ships were to conduct a number of activities in the Asia-Pacific region, including searching for and destroying submarines of a simulated enemy.
In June, Russian and Egyptian warships conducted joint exercises in the Mediterranean Sea. During the maneuvers, they worked out the formation of a detachment of warships in a designated area, conducted communications training, and provided flights for deck helicopters. The frigate Al-Qadir participated from Egypt. The joint training in the Pacific Fleet was called another practical step in strengthening Russian-Egyptian naval cooperation.
The nuclear-powered missile submarines Severodvinsk and Orel of the Northern Fleet carried out practical missile firing at the "enemy" in the Barents Sea. The exercises were conducted in accordance with the combat training plan.

[Regnum] State tests of the newest icebreaker Evpatiy Kolovrat, created for the needs of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy, have been completed. This was reported on July 12 by the information support department of the press service of the Eastern Military District for the Pacific Fleet.
“In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, factory tests of the multifunctional ice-class ship Evpatiy Kolovrat for the detachment of auxiliary vessels of the troops and forces in the north-east of Russia have been completed,” the statement said.
It is noted that in the near future a ceremony of raising the naval flag on the icebreaker will be held in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, after which it will be accepted into the Navy.
During the tests, the icebreaker's seaworthiness, maneuverability, and the operation of air navigation equipment and ship systems were tested. The icebreaker will provide year-round escort of Pacific Fleet ships in the near Arctic zone and provide logistical support and patrols.
As reported by Regnum News Agency, on June 9, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Viktor Yevtukhov said that the Navy will receive 50 new ships by the end of the year. According to him, the fleet will include submarines, as well as small missile ships and support vessels, in addition, special attention will be paid to frigates and corvettes capable of operating in the distant sea zone.
The Ministry of Defense reported in early January that the small missile ship Burya and the submarine Kronshtadt would join the Navy in 2024. The department specified that the Navy would continue the planned increase in its personnel.
