[Regnum] Russian and Chinese ships in the Philippine Sea conducted practical artillery and simulated missile firing at sea targets. This was reported on July 13 by the Russian Defense Ministry.
The corvette Sovershenny of the Russian Pacific Fleet and a detachment of PLA Navy warships, which included the destroyer Yinchuan, the frigate Hengshui and the universal supply transport Weishanhu, participated in the training on the use of standard systems. As part of the maneuvers, the ships fired artillery mounts at floating targets.
The training took place during a joint Russian-Chinese patrol in the Asia-Pacific region (APR). The purpose of these actions was to strengthen naval cooperation between the Russian Federation and China, maintain peace and stability in the region, as well as protect facilities and monitor the sea area.
The first patrol of the Russian and Chinese naval forces took place in 2021.
As reported by Regnum News Agency, in August 2023, Russian and Chinese ships repelled an air raid by a mock enemy during a joint patrol in the Pacific Ocean. The military conducted special exercises involving aircraft and helicopters.
In March, the naval exercises "Maritime Security Belt - 2024" began in the northern part of the Indian Ocean with the participation of Iran, Russia and China. Representatives of the armed forces of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Oman, Pakistan and South Africa were also invited to the maneuvers.
On April 21, Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Alexander Moiseyev and PLA Navy Commander Hu Zhongming signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the Field of Search and Rescue at Sea. They held a meeting in China, during which they discussed a wide range of issues related to cooperation between the two countries in the naval sphere.
