Gerasimov was presented with samples of robotic systems used in assault operations, the report said.
In addition, the Chief of the General Staff heard a report from the commander of the East group of forces, Lieutenant General Alexander Sanchik, on the situation in the area of ​​responsibility and the progress of combat missions.
"The Chief of the General Staff noted the successes of the Vostok group in liberating the settlement of Urozhainoye and set tasks for further actions," the Ministry of Defense noted.
The Chief of the General Staff also presented state awards to the servicemen who distinguished themselves during the liberation of Urozhayny and thanked them for their courage and bravery. After the award ceremony, Gerasimov spoke with the officers and soldiers who participated in the liberation of the settlement. They told the Chief of the General Staff about the preparations for the assault and the assault itself, the department's press service added.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, in February Gerasimov visited the command post of the 58th combined arms army of the Southern Military District in the area of ​​the special operation. The Chief of the General Staff heard the report of the army commander and presented the soldiers with awards.
In June, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov visited the Aerospace Forces command post and heard reports from the leadership on the tasks being performed. Belousov was briefed, among other things, on the combat work of aviation in the SVO zone in real time.
Earlier on July 16, the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, reported that over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 145 fighters in the area of ​​responsibility of the Russian Armed Forces group "Vostok". During this period, the group's units occupied more advantageous positions and defeated the manpower and equipment of four enemy brigades.
On July 14, Konashenkov reported that units of the Russian Armed Forces' Vostok group had liberated the village of Urozhainoe in the DPR. The liberation of Urozhainoe is of great tactical importance and will allow the Russian Armed Forces to advance more actively during the SVO, said Vladimir Rogov, Chairman of the RF Public Chamber's Commission on Sovereignty Issues and Co-Chairman of the Coordination Council for the Integration of New Regions.
