[Regnum] Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksiy Goncharenko demanded that Oleksandr Syrsky be removed from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and that the former commander of the joint forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Sodol be brought to criminal responsibility.
"We need new faces. A new army. If we don't change, we'll die. Syrsky must go, Sodol must be behind bars," Goncharenko wrote on his Telegram channel.
He published this statement in response to a public appeal by soldiers of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regarding the resignation of their commander Emil Ishkulov. Goncharenko also stated that the former commander of the joint forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Sodol should be brought to criminal responsibility, adding that the leader of the Kiev regime Volodymyr Zelensky is also to blame for the army's problems.
As reported by Regnum news agency, Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Servant of the People faction Maryana Bezugla stated that the replacement of former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny with Oleksandr Syrsky has not changed anything, the military leadership continues to lead the troops to defeat. According to her, a "general faction" has formed around Syrsky, which deprives the Kiev regime of "a chance for change and victory."
On February 8, the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, appointed Syrsky as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine instead of Zaluzhny.
Earlier, Ukrainian media wrote that the military failures of the Ukrainian army were the result of strategic miscalculations by the authorities. Ukrainian journalist and former adviser to the head of the country's Ministry of Defense Yuriy Butusov stated that the responsibility for the strategic mistakes that allowed the Russian military to liberate several settlements in a short time lies with the country's leadership.
