Trump faces 'October surprise,' warns ex-Bush lawyer | ||
2024-08-17 | ||
![]() Legal scholar John Yoo sounded the alarm that the former president could wind up in prison - as soon as next month. Trump has been desperately seeking to hold off his sentencing hearing until after the election, following his conviction by a Manhattan jury of 34 counts of falsifying business records. But the controversial Judge Juan Merchan has consistently denied his appeals. While speaking to Fox News host Bill Hemmer on Thursday, Yoo said Merchan wields the power to 'order Donald Trump...to jail immediately.'

#4 I agree about Yoo being an honest player, and I am convinced they are planning to imprison Trump immediately upon sentencing/ or at a minimum some for of residential confinement with limitations on outside contact that a sych a state of imprisionment would impose. The signal may well be the level of federal forces marshaled in NYC in anticipation of the ensuing unrest. Since it is a NY State criminal matter, can Trump, upon seeing the cues that presage his detention, remain in FLorida and use the extradition delaying lawfare techniques to remain free until the election? Asking for a friend? |

#3 Actually, for an October event, I was expecting Biden to have a "health event" and tragically die, so Kammie can be sworn in, and we have a state funeral, and all that. That way, when the 'emergency' causes the election to be cancelled, she's already in office, and there's no stopping it. Please tell me I'm paranoid. |

#2 ^ While I philosophically disagree with John Yoo's take on presidential power, he's an honest player who has nothing particularly against Trump. In fact, based on his podcast appearances, I believe he rather likes him. This is an honest warning. |

#1 Ex-Bush Lawyer??. Doesn't that re-enforce the general belief that the DC Elite (D's) & (R's) working overtime to keep Trump from office to protect themselves and their bkgrd rule? BTW: which they try to deny. |
