2024-09-04 |
Could be ISIS-K, could be rebels — we’ll probably never know. But at any rate, the US should not have an envoy there, and especially should not be fecklessly condoling with one set of terrorists over their deaths at the hand of another set of terrorists. Follow up to this story from yesterday. [KhaamaPress] Thomas West, the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan, condemned the recent suicide kaboom by ISIS-K against employees of the Attorney General’s Office. The attack, which occurred the day before, targeted officials working in Kabul and has been widely denounced by international observers.West stated that there is "no justification for attacking innocent people," …anyone working for the Taliban is no innocent… emphasizing the need for global condemnation of such violence. His remarks reflect a broader concern about the safety of civilians and the escalating violence in Afghanistan. The U.S. representative expressed condolences to the families of the victims, acknowledging the tragic loss of life. His sympathy for the victims’ families is a stark reminder of the human cost of ongoing conflict and terrorism in Afghanistan. ISIS-K grabbed credit for the deadly attack, which targeted employees of the former Attorney General’s Office. The group asserted that over 45 individuals were killed or injured in the earth-shattering kaboom. This claim highlights the ongoing threat posed by bad boy groups in the region. According to the Taliban ![]() ’s Ministry of Interior, the attack resulted in at least six deaths, including one woman, and left 13 others injured. However, today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday... some sources within the Taliban have reported that the corpse count is 12. The discrepancy underscores the difficulties in obtaining accurate information amidst the chaos of such attacks. ISIS-K stated that the jacket wallah waited for employees to exit through the main gate before detonating their explosive vest. This detail reflects the calculated nature of the attack and the group’s persistent intent to target key institutions. The attack highlights the severe security challenges facing Afghanistan, as well as the broader international concern for the safety and well-being of Afghan civilians. Continued support for counterterrorism efforts and humanitarian aid ![]() Related: Thomas West 09/15/2023 West: Islamic Emirate 'Significantly Degraded ISKP Capability’ Thomas West 09/14/2023 Daily Evacuation Brief September 13-14, 2023 Thomas West 08/13/2023 Taliban confirms imprisonment of 16 foreign nationals in Afghanistan |
