Ugandan activist and politician, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has said that the Ugandan Police authorities denied shooting him in the leg. Wine, who was shot on Tuesday in the leg by the police in Bulindo, Kira Municipality, said in a post on his X account on Wednesday morning that the police statement claimed that he stumbled as he was getting into his vehicle and got injured. Posting the video footage of the police shooting, the handlers of Wine’s X account wrote, "Sadly but not surprising, the Police Statement claimed that our leader Bobi Wine stumbled as he was getting into his vehicle and got injured! "They often forget that today, everyone is a journalist. We're grateful to the vigilant citizens who captured this footage and shared it. "Thank you for listening to our consistent message - many times, our cameras are our biggest weapons." |
