[Regnum] In Moscow, security forces detained a man who holds radical religious views and is suspected of financing terrorism. This was reported on September 17 by the press service of the FSB Directorate for the city of Moscow and the Moscow Region.“The UFSB of Russia for the city of Moscow and the Moscow region, in cooperation with the UFSB of Russia for the Yaroslavl region, stopped the activity of an adherent of radical religious views involved in the financing of an international terrorist organization, the activities of which are prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the press service of the UFSB stated.
The investigation established that the suspect transferred money to a person against whom criminal cases had previously been opened for assisting a terrorist organization and participating in it.
A criminal case has been opened against the detainee under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Assistance to terrorist activity”). The defendant has been arrested.
