Khartoum police redeploy in recaptured districts
2024-10-09
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Sudanese police forces announced on Tuesday their redeployment in districts of Khartoum Bahri recaptured by the army, aiming to secure the areas and clear debris left by fighting.

The army retook the districts of Al-Halfaya, Al-Droushab, Al-Kadru, and Al-Samrab in a military operation launched with allied forces in Khartoum and Khartoum Bahri on Sept. 26. The operation has expanded to include areas in the states of Sennar, Al Jazirah, and Darfur.

''Khartoum State Police have begun deploying in the liberated areas in the Bahri locality,'' police spokesman Brigadier General Fathal Rahman Mohamed Al-Toum said in a statement.

He added that Khartoum State Police Director Lt Gen Amir Abdel-Monim ordered Bahri local police to immediately resume work and reopen Al-Halfaya, Al-Darushab, and Al-Sleit stations. Security forces will also be deployed to protect neighbourhoods and remove debris.

Al-Toum said police forces are prepared for further deployment in recaptured areas, including community policing in neighbourhoods and the rehabilitation of police stations.

Khartoum Bahri police media reported that Major General Sami Abdallah Abu Al-Hassan inaugurated the Al-Droushab police station, paving the way for deployment in other area stations. Forces have been deployed to conduct criminal investigations, maintain security, and participate in checkpoints and patrols.
