[Regnum] A detachment of ships of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLA) passed into the Pacific Ocean through the Bashi Strait near the territory of Taiwan, the Taiwanese Defense Ministry reported.
"Chinese naval vessels led by the aircraft carrier Liaoning passed through the waters near the Bashi Strait and continued moving towards the western Pacific Ocean," the post noted.
It is specified that the Taiwanese Armed Forces monitored the situation and responded accordingly.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on July 27, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that Taiwan was and remains part of China and will never be a “separate state.” He stressed that Beijing will definitely take countermeasures when the forces supporting Taiwan in its desire to separate commit provocations.
On July 12, Beijing imposed sanctions on a number of American military-industrial companies selling weapons to Taiwan. The Chinese Foreign Ministry also accused Washington of seriously interfering in China's internal affairs and damaging its territorial integrity.
US President Joe Biden on June 4 allowed the possibility of sending US troops to Taiwan, which he said could happen if China "uses force" against the island.
