Al-Shabaab Attack on Military Base Near Hudur Town Leaves One Dead, Others Injured | |

[ShabelleMedia] In a pre-dawn assault, al-Shabaab![]() gunnies targeted a military base located approximately 17 kilometers from Hudur, the capital of Somalia’s Bakol region, in the SouthWest state. The attack, which occurred overnight, resulted in at least one soldier confirmed dead and several others maimed, according to local sources. Army commanders in the region claim they successfully repelled the attackers, stating that they "neutralized several terrorists" and seized several two-wheeler cycle of violences utilized by the gunnies during the assault. The military’s prompt response and the recovery of equipment suggest an attempt to disrupt al-Shabaab’s operations in the area.
“The army received the information of the terrorist enemy in Lukugooraw area, which is about 20 km from the Hudur district, and destroyed the militia who intended to attack the people of the city with an explosive vehicle they were driving,” a statement from SNA read in part. The military said the vehicle was set to blow up in the centre of town causing huge loss of lives.
