| #7 Those would be the Shiite Yemenis, of course. The Sunni Yemenis would be looked down just for their deep suntans. We see the same thing when the Pakistanis think about Bangladeshis. On the other hand, supposedly the purest Arabic is spoken in Yemen. So there they are — elite accent, downmarket skin. It’s enough to make a girl hide in Purdah in the hope of getting lighter. |
