| IDF: Commander of 401st Armored Brigade killed in battle in northern Gaza |

| [IsraelTimes] The commander of the IDF’s 401st Armored Brigade, Col. Ehsan Daqsa, was killed during fighting in the northern Gaza Strip earlier today, the military announces. According to an initial IDF probe, Daqsa’s tank and another tank were hit by explosive devices during operations in Jabaliya. Daqsa is one of the most senior officers to have been killed in the fighting in Gaza. Another officer was seriously wounded in the same incident. Daqsa, 41, was from the Druze town of Daliyat al-Karmel. He took command of the 401st Brigade in June. Daqsa also was decorated with a citation from the head of the Northern Command for his involvement in the Battle of Ayta ash-Shab in 2006.
