The Welt newspaper reported that investigations revealed some radical Islamists, considered threats to Germany’s security, had entered the country legally.
After the threats were uncovered, the German government halted the evacuation process. Currently, thousands of individuals in neighboring countries are waiting for German visas.
These individuals were previously included in the evacuation list, but the German government has effectively suspended the process without providing them with any response.
The suspension came after an Afghan citizen in Mannheim, Germany, stabbed a police officer to death and injured several civilians. The attack sparked widespread reactions.
On Saturday, Business Insider also reported that the evacuation process was non-transparent, with people who faced no real threats being brought to Germany instead of eligible individuals.
Recently, Germany has started deporting "criminal refugees" from Afghanistan.
The situation of Afghan refugees remains dire, with many facing an uncertain future. The halt in Germany’s evacuation program has left thousands stranded in neighboring countries, with no clear path forward.
