Trump's team drawing up list of Pentagon officers to fire, sources say
2024-11-14
Members of President-elect Donald Trump's transition team are drawing up a list of military officers to be fired, potentially including the Joint Chiefs of Staff, two sources said, in what would be an unprecedented shakeup at the Pentagon.
It will be interesting to see how many will choose to resign or retire ahead of the presidential swearing in, forestalling the necessity.
The planning for the firings is at an early stage after Trump's Nov. 5 election victory and could change as Trump's administration takes shape, said the sources, who are familiar with the Trump transition and requested anonymity to speak candidly about the plans.

One of the sources questioned the feasibility of a mass firing at the Pentagon.

It was also unclear if Trump himself would endorse the plan, although in the past, he has railed extensively against defense leaders who have criticized him. Trump has also spoken during the campaign of firing "woke" generals and those responsible for the troubled 2021 pullout from Afghanistan.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

#7  Trump should 'turn the knife' in the Generals by wearing 5 stars somewhere on his suit!

#6  "Clean out the Augean stables at the bloated, woke-addled Pentagon." Best of luck to you Pete. May you go with God.

#5  Trump sent him so he wont have to fire the generals, they will quit. He was sent as an ethics lightning rod. The generals will have to either sign up to support him or not, driving Trump thanking them for their service and letting them go. This will be fun watch the 4 stars call him sir...

#4  Several points:
1. When I was in the Navy, I was told that EVERY officer serves at the pleasure of the President. So Trump should have no problem getting rid of anybody. These people are not civil servants.
2. Many years ago, I heard Rush Limbaugh say "The purpose of a military force is to kill people and break things." It is not a social welfare program, or anything like DEI. It should be based solely on merit, not meeting some artificial goals.

#2  As you tossing out the DEI teams, install some Civics Teams that open the brave new world to many about those things called the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, given how they have sworn to the latter.

Speaking of purges, start with the academies.
