[Korrespondent] The Ukrainian Armed Forces are engaged in heavy fighting in the east and south of Ukraine.
The enemy attacked in the areas of 17 settlements in the Pokrovsky direction. 19 combat clashes are still ongoing.
Since the beginning of the day, 166 combat clashes have occurred on the front. Almost a third of them are in the Pokrovsk direction, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in an operational report as of 16:00 on Friday, January 19.
Thus, in the Kharkov direction near Vovchansk and Staritsa, the Russians tried to break through the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces five times.
In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy carried out eight assaults near Petropavlovka, Peschanoye, Zagryzovoye and Lozovaya. One combat clash ended, seven more are still ongoing.
In the Liman direction, the invaders attacked 32 times near the settlements of Tverdokhlebovo, Grekovka, Zelenaya Roshcha, Pervomayskoye, Makeyevka, Terny and Zarechnoye. Fighting continues at nine locations.
In the Seversky direction, in the area of ​​the settlement of Belogorovka, the enemy attacked twice.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 22 Russian attacks near Belaya Gora, Predtechino, Chasovy Yar and Stupochki. Nine enemy attacks remained unfinished.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy attacked four times near Toretsk. Two more clashes are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the occupiers have organized 49 assaults in the areas of the settlements of Novopoltavka, Mirolyubovka, Elizavetovka, Promin, Lisovka, Mirnograd, Novy Trud, Zverevo, Udachnoye, Kotlino, Novoaleksandrovka, Novovasilovka, Novoandreyevka, Yantarnoye. The defense forces repelled 30 attacks, 19 clashes are still ongoing.
In the Novopavlovsk direction, the occupiers attacked 11 times near Constantinople, Zelenovka, Razliv, Razdolnoye, Velikaya Novosyolka and Neskuchnoye. Three clashes are still ongoing.
In the operational zone in Kursk region, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 10 attacks, and eight more battles are ongoing.
Let us recall that 161 combat clashes were recorded on the front in 24 hours on January 9. Most of the fighting took place near Pokrovsk and in the Kurakhovsky direction.
According to the General Staff, Russia lost 1,830 soldiers in the past 24 hours. Ukrainian defenders destroyed dozens of enemy armored vehicles and guns.
