United Nations humanitarian officials say that more than 630 trucks of humanitarian aid have entered the Gaza Strip, in implementation of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.
In a post on social media platform X, Tom Fletcher, the United Nations under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs, says that over 630 trucks entered Gaza on Sunday, with at least 300 of them bringing humanitarian assistance into the north.
And no doubt all involved feel terribly noble for doing so. But the Hamas warehouses were already stuffed to bursting with supplies Hamas was selling at a huge mark-up to the populace they’ve deliberately kept cold and starving for propaganda purposes — where on earth are they going to put what’s coming in now?
More from the Times of Israel: | The UN did not give details on where the shipments entered Gaza, but an Egyptian source speaking on condition of anonymity said that “197 trucks of aid and five of fuel entered through the crossing of Kerem Shalom between Israel and Gaza and that of al-Oga” and Nitzana between Egypt and Israel.
Some of the trucks were carrying prefabricated housing units.
That’s actually a good idea. Kudos to whoever thought of it, and also to whoever funded it. | Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said 600 trucks a day would enter Gaza after the ceasefire took effect, including 50 carrying fuel. |
