Leading German election candidate promises to halt Afghan refugee resettlement programs

[KhaamaPress] Friedrich Merz, one of the leading candidates for the chancellorship in Germany, has announced that if he wins, he will stop the program for accepting and relocating at-risk Afghans, including former local staff and their families.
Is this just something he must say to beat out AfD and get elected, or will he really follow through?
He further added that he would implement the deportation of rejected asylum seekers back to Afghanistan. Merz emphasized that this would be one of his first actions upon assuming power.

Polls indicate that Merz, the Christian Democratic Union candidate, has a higher chance of becoming Germany’s next chancellor in the parliamentary elections, set to take place in just three days (February 23).

Merz made these statements during a campaign event in Halle, stating that if Germany is providing 300 million euros in aid to Afghanistan annually, it should expect the Taliban

 to take back individuals who Germany no longer wants.

The absence of formal recognition of the Taliban by the international community and the lack of official relations with the group makes deporting Afghans from Germany and other European countries to Afghanistan difficult. Deporting Afghan criminals or those whose asylum applications have been rejected requires establishing communication with the Taliban-led government.

In the most recent incident, a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker drove a car into a crowd in Munich, killing a mother and her child and injuring more than 30 others. In response to such attacks, German officials, including the Chancellor and Interior Minister, have emphasized the importance of deporting Afghan criminals back to Afghanistan.

Merz’s proposed policies on Afghan refugees could lead to significant changes for those seeking asylum in Germany. This shift is likely to disappoint many Afghans who still hope for a future in Germany, as it may curtail their opportunities to seek refuge in the country.

Ff the got 30% this would be seen as an upset landslide, but they wouldn't be able to form a government.

#4  It will be interesting to see if the muslim invasions survive USAID budget cuts. The amount of evil in the world is proportional to the amount of USAID in the world. And I think a reduction in resettlement is built-in to the current state of affairs.

Even if the AfD won (they won't win), they would follow through only to the extent their Qatari/Chinese(Russian handlers would permit.
