Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has announced the alleged "beginning of an offensive on Ukraine" from the Kursk region. This information is not true, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Kovalenko reported on Telegram on Wednesday, February 19.
In particular, Putin stated in a comment to his propagandists: "The latest information that was reported to me literally an hour ago is that tonight, fighters from the 810th brigade crossed the border of the Russian Federation and Ukraine and entered enemy territory."
He also assured that Russian troops are advancing along the entire line of contact in Ukraine.
Kovalenko reported that a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG) attempted to enter Ukrainian territory, but was destroyed. At the same time, groups of Russians who could launch a large-scale offensive on Ukrainian territory have not been identified.
"Putin's information about a large-scale offensive by the Russians is a lie," he added.
Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that as of 16:00 on Wednesday, three combat clashes were underway in the Kursk region. In total, 12 Russian attacks have been recorded since the beginning of the day.
