Report: Trump Suggests Federal Government ''Take Over'' and Govern D.C.
2025-02-21
[BREITBART] President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons...
suggested that the federal government ''should take over Washington, D.C.'' and govern it, citing how there was ''too much crime, too much graffiti'' and too many homeless encampments, according to several reports.

Jake Sherman, the founder of Punchbowl News shared words that Trump had told news hounds while on Air Force One, citing Tarini Parti, a White House news hound with the Wall Street Journal as a source.

''I think that we should govern the District of Columbia — I think that we should run it strong, run it with law and order, make it absolutely flawless,'' Trump was reported as having said, according to the press pool. ''And I think we should take over Washington, D.C. We could save people from getting killed. They have a great police department there. Somehow they're not utilized properly. We should govern D.C. The federal government should take over the governance of D.C. And run it really, really properly.''

Trump also shared that while he liked Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser (D), gets ''along great with the mayor,'' the government of D.C. was ''not doing the job,'' according to the press pool.

''I like the mayor, I get along great with the mayor, they're not doing the job — too much crime, too much graffiti, too many tents on the lawns, there's magnificent lawns and there's tents. It's a sad thing, homeless people all over the place, we've gotta take care of the homeless,'' Trump added, according to the press pool. ''But we can't have that in Washington, D.C.''

#8   Having so much of the federal government concentrated in DC has turned into a very bad system. It may have made sense in 1790, but modern communications, air & space travel, etc. have rendered such concentration more trouble than it's worth. Why not disperse federal functions all around CONUS?

#7  As we walk this path, centralization of power and exec orders is something the bad guys druel over. We must bear in mind the precendent being set AND the clock is ticking from JAn 20. I do not fear the next 4 years, I fear what follows. "Dem's" don't have a strategy, but i doubt "Dem's" have been running the show since at least 2008. Behind the curtains you might find someone(s) feeding this machine as part of a Bond villian-esque larger plan.

#6  "There is a rumor that Soylent Green(tm) is displaced Federal workers."
"I've heard. It does taste rather bitter lately."

#5  Well there wasn't supposed to be a city there - just government buildings... the city just grew (much like mushrooms in a manure pile). Rather than trying to govern it, remove it - no non-governmental buildings or activity within the DC boundaries. That'll have the advantage of making the congresscritters have to drive out of town for their chardonnay and hookers.

#4  It belongs to Congress. They decided to 'out source' it to avoid accountability. Anything that isn't federal or foreign should revert back the Maryland just as the land was returned to Virginia across the Potomac.

#3  IIRC, Congress will have to authorize this. And Congress hasn't been doing squat for decades.

#2  He'd have to fire the "fundamentally non-serious" choice of Police Chief once he took over.

#1  I don't know ... with all the newly jobless, soon to be homeless, wandering the streets looking for a latte, that may not be a prudent move.
