[Regnum] The snow cover has finally melted in Moscow due to record heat, and the line of snowdrifts has shifted 230-280 km east of the capital. This was stated on March 7 by leading specialist of the Phobos weather center Evgeny Tishkovets.
“In the capital region, over the past 24 hours, against the backdrop of record-breaking heat, the last ‘islands’ of snow cover have finally melted – not a single weather station is recording snow,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to the weather forecaster, the border of the snow cover runs through the Leningrad, Vologda, Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Vladimir, Ryazan, Tambov, eastern Voronezh and northern Volgograd regions.
In addition, snow cover also remains in the south of Krasnodar Krai, Stavropol Krai and the republics of the North Caucasus. According to the specialist, the border of the snow cover will retreat further inland by another 200-300 km in a week.
As reported by Regnum News Agency, on March 5, the head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, said that Muscovites will experience air temperatures five degrees above the climatic norm on International Women's Day. According to him, on March 8, Moscow and the Moscow Region are expected to experience air temperatures from +5 to +8 degrees, with daytime pressure rising significantly, which is why variable cloudiness and clearer weather are predicted.
