[KavkazUzel] A resident of Dagestan has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in a terrorist group, of which the investigation believes the four people killed in a shootout with security forces are members.
As the "Caucasian Knot" reported, on the night of March 5, a counter-terrorist operation regime was declared in the Makhachkala village of Semender. Four people were killed in a shootout with security forces, and the Anti-Terrorist Committee declared them militants of the banned terrorist organization "Islamic State." The CTO regime was lifted that morning. All of the dead were residents of Dagestan.
According to the Dagestan operational headquarters, the security forces were checking information about possible preparations for a terrorist attack. During the arrest attempt, several people opened fire  from automatic weapons at the traffic police officers. They were then blocked in one of the houses.
A criminal case on the creation of a terrorist community and participation in it (parts 1 and 2 of Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) is being investigated in Dagestan, the republican department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported today.
"On March 5, 2025, during operational activities during armed resistance, four members of the terrorist community were neutralized. The fifth member was detained and a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for him," the department's Telegram channel said.
According to the investigation, no later than June 2024, two residents of Dagestan united into a terrorist community to prepare to create an armed group. "No later than November 2024, three more residents of the republic joined the said terrorist community," the department stated.
