''Since the start of the war in October 2023, over 50 UNRWA staff, among them teachers, doctors, social workers, have been detained and abused,'' UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini wrote on X.

He noted that many of them were forced to make forced confessions under duress.
Lazzarini described what happened as ''horrific and shocking,'' calling for an international investigation and holding accountable those responsible for these violations and crimes committed against civilians, which violate international law in the Gaza Strip.
Lazzarini also indicated that thousands of tons of humanitarian aid
