“The world community needs to work together to create a new architecture of equal and indivisible security that would reliably protect all states without harming the interests of others,” the Russian leader noted.
According to Putin, this is especially relevant today for the countries of Eurasia, which must create a space on the common continent where peace and stability prevail, making it an example of sustainable economic, social and humanitarian development.
The Russian President expressed the opinion that the already adopted multilateral forms of cooperation could form the basis for the formation of such an architecture. Putin cited the Union State, the CSTO, the CIS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS, ASEAN as examples, and also recalled the existence of other influential structures.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on Tuesday Putin arrived in Volgograd, where he met with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.
Speaking at the forum about the hero city of Stalingrad, the Russian president pointed out that during the Great Patriotic War the fate of the future of all mankind was decided here. The Russian leader emphasized that it was during the Battle of Stalingrad that a radical turning point occurred in the war against Nazism, which resulted in the defeat of the fascist troops on the banks of the Volga.
Putin added that both Russia and Belarus will always remember how, during the Great Patriotic War, the peoples together defended their homeland and, at the cost of enormous sacrifices, brought peace to Europe.
