[Regnum] Five Ukrainian servicemen received sentences of 15 to 16 years for invading the Kursk region. This was reported on April 29 by the Main Military Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.
The 2nd Western District Military Court handed down a guilty verdict to the servicemen of the 21st separate mechanized brigade of the armed formations of Ukraine, Vladimir Gavriles, Vladimir Martsinkevich, Andriy Kukharyshyn, Andriy Kucheruk and Viktor Nedashkovsky.
All of them were found guilty under paragraphs “a” and “b” of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Commission by a group of persons by prior conspiracy of a terrorist act resulting in grave consequences”).
As the court established, each of the defendants, together with their fellow servicemen, invaded the Sudzhansky District of the Kursk Region in August-September of last year and proceeded towards the settlement of Kauchuk, the village of Obukhovka in the Korenevsky District and the village of Vesyoloye in the Glushkovsky District. They were armed with automatic small arms, large-caliber weapons and explosive devices.
"In order to carry out terrorist activities, block and hold settlements under armed control, Gavriles, Martsinkevich, Kukharishin and Nedashkovsky set up observation and firing positions in adjacent forest plantations with a unified system of reconnaissance, fire and communications, took measures to destabilize the work of state authorities and local governments, intimidated civilians, prohibited them from moving, and prevented evacuation," the prosecutor's office reported.
Driver-mechanic Kucheruk delivered additional forces and resources there, including ammunition and weapons.

“The court agreed with the position of the state prosecutor and sentenced the militants to imprisonment for terms of 15 to 16 years, with the first three years to be served in prison and the rest of the sentence in a maximum security penal colony,” the department reported.
