| #8 This is about Medicaid. Some Republicans want to impose a per capita cap in the Federal share of Medicaid. The Federal share ranges from about 60% to 80% depending on the State. Abut 80 million people rely on Medicaid. Because there is no cap, there is less incentive for efficiency. |

| #6 I saw it claimed the other day that what with the unadmitted Covid deaths and considerably lower-than-claimed birthrates for some time — and looking at the evidence of a variety of indicators that I’m afraid I don’t remember — China’s population is currently about 900 million instead of the claimed 1.4 billion. Sarah Hoyt separately has claimed that in much of the world, whether for pride or to get more aid money, birth rates have been lower than claimed for as much as two generations. |
