According to the weather forecaster, a record amount of snow fell in Moscow and the Moscow region during this time, and the trees that fell as a result damaged cars and tore down power lines.
“The capital region has broken a 116-year-old precipitation record,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, heavy snowfall began in Perm on the morning of April 28 and continued for almost a day. As a result of the bad weather and limited visibility, the work of the Bolshoye Savino International Airport was suspended. Snow removal equipment continued to combat the consequences of the rampant elements throughout the night.
It was later revealed that the snowfall in Perm was the strongest such natural phenomenon for the city in the 21st century. The amount of precipitation was higher than expected and exceeded 30 cm at a number of stations.
