[WMBF News] HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - New details are emerging about the man charged in a mass shooting in Little River.
Shawon Williams, 19, worked as a Navy hull maintenance technician seaman assigned to the Great Lakes area, according to Cmrd. Jessica McNulty, a spokesperson for the U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery.
McNulty said that the Naval Criminal Investigative Service arrested Williams on Thursday. From there, authorities in Lake County, Illinois, took him into custody.
Williams signed his extradition waiver Friday morning, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.
As of Friday, Williams was at the Lake County jail awaiting pickup from Horry County.
The Horry County Police Department said it plans to charge Williams with multiple counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a crime in connection with the May 25 shooting.
Shots were fired in the parking lot of a charter boat business off Watson Avenue after an argument on a party boat carrying over 120 people. |
