[ColonelCassad] Russia has created a navigation system that does not require satellite communications and is protected from electronic warfare.
It is reported that the device created by the RosEl holding (part of the Rostec State Corporation) is an improved modification of the small-sized Doppler speed and drift angle meter (DISS).
The company noted the following improvements:
- Increased strength;
- Increased accuracy of readings;
- Energy consumption reduced by 4 times;
- Multiple reduction in size;
- Reduction in device weight by 90%.
The main advantage of the new system is that it does not require satellite communications for navigation. This makes it an excellent choice for installation on aircraft operating in regions where there are difficulties with satellite communications or there is a risk of signal suppression by electronic warfare.
RosEl emphasized that work on the device began in 2020 and that today it has already passed flight tests and is ready for serial production.
An interesting solution for large drones, which with such a device will be less dependent on the shortcomings of our orbital satellite group, which will be able to provide full coverage no earlier than 2030. And of course there is the question of the cost of the product, which is extremely important in matters of installing such devices on drones.
