[Regnum] The Kilauea volcano has begun erupting in the Hawaiian Islands. This was reported on June 12 by the US Geological Survey (USGS).
It is specified that the eruption began on June 11 at 11:57 (00:57 Moscow time on June 12), with the lava ejected from the volcano's northern vent reaching a height of about 100 m.
According to the USGS, this eruption is the 25th episode of activity at the volcano since December 23, 2024.
Kilauea Volcano is located on the island of Hawaii (Big Island) and is considered one of the most active volcanoes on our planet. Locals believe it is the home of Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on June 2, the eruption of Mount Etna began in Sicily, before which volcanic tremors were observed. The height of the ash emission reached almost 3 km.
In late May, seismologists became seriously concerned about the increased activity in the Campi Flegrei supervolcano area in Italy. It was noted that if the volcano awakened, the consequences could be catastrophic for the entire world.
