#6  *ahem*
I have 3 bridges under construction, and a joint venture with Caltrans (DOT) retrofitting a historic 100 yr old bridge to which I assigned one of my assistant engineers, and we are also covering a soil-nail slope repair emergency project. All this with myself and 3 others. I can attest that my section of local gubbamint is NOT overstaffed

#3  Get the size of the public sector work force down to about 2/3 of what it is now (including a similar sized reduction in grants and subsidies and regulations that channel money into rent-seeking "private" business) and most of our problems would evaporate.

Any society where the "good" jobs are public sector jobs is an autocracy.
