[FoxNews] Multiple deputies were shot Wednesday while serving warrants and a protective order at a home in rural Pittsylvania County, Virginia.
The shooting was confirmed by Rep. John McGuire, R-Va., on social media.
"My thoughts and prayers are with the deputies who were shot in Pittsylvania County, as well as their families," McGuire said in a post on X. "We are closely following the situation and keeping everyone affected in our hearts during this difficult time."
Pennsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor said officers were met with gunfire when they approached the home and called for backup. Two deputies were hit by shrapnel and another was taken to ED out of an "abundance of caution" but has since been released, Taylor said.
A standoff ensued before the suspect eventually gave up and came out of the house on his own. The suspect, James Andru Lehnerd was taken into custody and is awaiting charges.
A large police presence remained at the scene late Wednesday in Gretna, near the border between North Carolina and Virginia.

In a statement Tuesday, the Iran-backed group claimed to have launched six drones at Israel, targeting "vital targets" in Haifa, the Negev Desert, Eilat and Beersheba.
"The operations successfully achieved their objectives, thanks to Allah," the Houthis claimed.
The IDF reported shooting down one drone off the coast of Eilat, which did not set off sirens in Israel’s southernmost city because it posed no threat. The other five drones likely fell short before reaching the country’s borders, as many Houthi projectiles have previously.

[IsraelTimes] Police and Border Police officers last night arrested 42 Gazans who had been illegally residing in Israel, law enforcement officials say.
They were arrested in three separate hideout apartments in Nazareth by Northern District forces, as part of an operation aimed at “preventing illegal residency offenses.”
Officers first came upon an apartment with 28 illegal residents, which led them to two additional apartments–one with 11 residents and another with three. The Gazans were detained and transferred for questioning to the Nazareth police station.
Forces also confiscated a “commercial quantity” of goods whose ownership is unknown, police say, without specifying the nature of the seized property.
