#3  This low cost MRI clinic (NOT affiliated with a Hospital or regional health care system) is part of a larger for-profit chain that has been investigated before due to safety concerns.

They (Nassau MRI) only do MRI's.

Also don't try for their website(s). NY one is offline (for 'reasons') and the main group's site has a built-in port scanner.

#6  Horrible death, but this is Darwin-ish. A 20-pound chain ("necklace")? Yeah, I always go around with the equivalent of a few sacks of potatoes around my neck.

MRI clinic definitely seems a bit fishy.

After 20 years in coma, Saudi royal known as 'Sleeping Prince'' dies
[GEO.TV] Saudi Prince al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal, widely known as Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat rational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...
's "Sleeping Prince" for spending nearly two decades in a coma, has passed away at the age of 36, as confirmed by his family over the weekend.

His death, shared widely on social media, marks the end of a long and heartbreaking chapter that touched hearts across Saudi Arabia and beyond.

He had been in a coma since 2005, when he was just 15 years old, after a car accident in London. He suffered a serious brain haemorrhage and was taken to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh.

There, he remained on a ventilator and in a vegetative state for years. Despite consultations with several specialists, he never regained consciousness.

Andy Byron, CEO of US IT firm Astronomer, resigns after viral kiss cam video
[GEO.TV] The CEO of the technology firm Astronomer Inc has resigned after being caught canoodling on camera at a rock concert with a woman who was not his wife, the company said on Saturday.

The company posted a written statement on its LinkedIn profile stating that its leaders "are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met."

The statement said that Andy Byron had offered his resignation as CEO and that the board of directors had accepted it. Byron had been placed on leave on Friday, and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is serving as the interim CEO.

Byron and Astronomer's chief people officer, Kristin Cabot, were caught on camera at the Coldplay concert on Wednesday in Massachusetts in an awkward clip that quickly went viral.

A front man for the company said that the pair were the only employees of the firm caught on camera. The front man did not respond to a request for comment on Cabot's job status.

Once Byron and Cabot realised they were being shown on a jumbo screen inside Gillette Stadium as they embraced, Byron ducked out of sight and Cabot covered her face with her hands and spun around.

Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin responded by saying, "either they're having an affair or they're just very shy."

Internet sleuths immediately went to work and identified Byron and Cabot by their social media profiles before the company confirmed their identities.

Over 200 dead as relentless monsoon rains wreak havoc across Pakistan
[GEO.TV] At least 202 people — including 96 children — have bit the dust across Pakistain since the onset of the monsoon season in late June, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Saturday.

The official data paints a grim picture, with Punjab
...1. Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2. A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3. A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots
...
.
accounting for 123 of the total deaths. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa recorded 40 deaths, Sindh 21, Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
16, and Islamabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....

The causes of death varied widely, with at least 118 killed due to house collapses, 30 from flash floods, and others due to drowning, lightning strikes, electrocution, and landslides.

The rains have injured more than 560 people, including 182 children.

[Egypt] Scientists have debunked the myth about slaves during the construction of the pyramids in Egypt
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Egyptologist Zahi Hawass and his team discovered graffiti in the Cheops pyramid with the names of work teams, calculations of days worked and records of payments. Archaeological excavations on the Giza plateau showed that the pyramids were built by professional workers, and not slaves, as was previously believed. RIA Novosti reported this on July 19.

Hawass noted that the builders, unlike the slaves, had the privilege of being buried in separate tombs. The necropolis contains graves with inscriptions and titles such as "overseer of the pyramid side" and "senior craftsman", which indirectly confirms their high social status.

"During excavations we found thousands of animal bones here, including the bones of 11 cows and 33 goats. This amount is enough to support about 10,000 workers a day," the Egyptologist said.

Near the pyramid, the Egyptology team also found a construction workers' settlement with houses, warehouses, bakeries and a hospital. Frescoes and papyri indicate that stone blocks were delivered by water through a branch of the Nile, which came right up to the plateau during high water.

Similar information is contained in an ancient papyrus from Wadi al-Jarf, which contains financial documents from the construction site. This fact was confirmed by French scientists in 2022, after analyzing soil samples and identifying traces of river vegetation.

Experiments have shown that a professional workforce could build the pyramid in 25 years using specialized block moving techniques.

As previously reported by Regnum News Agency, on July 5, archaeologists discovered well-preserved tombs of the Ptolemies and the Roman period in Aswan. They were found by a joint Egyptian-Italian expedition. A limestone sarcophagus with hieroglyphic inscriptions of a high-ranking dignitary, as well as mummies, including children, were found in the tombs. Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt Mohamed Ismail Khaled said that tomography and biological analysis of the mummies are planned.

On April 19, in the city of Saqqara, south of Cairo, archaeologists discovered the tomb of Prince Waser-if-re, son of Pharaoh Userkaf, with hieroglyphic inscriptions and titles. Statues of Djoser, his wife and ten daughters were also found, which were later moved to the prince's tomb.

Yemen: Four killed after flash floods swept away their car in Ibb — Hodhod Yemen News Agency
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Ibb province witnessed a tragic accident as a result of the heavy floods that swept through the region over the past few hours.

A citizen's car was swept away in the al-Mashnah stream in Ibb city, according to reports from the Civil Defense Department.

Local sources explained that the accident claimed the life of the car's owner, Mohammed Abdullah al-Saidi, along with his wife and two of their children. They were found following intensive searches conducted by rescue teams with the assistance of local residents.

Sources indicate that such incidents are not the first of their kind in the province. Many believe that the insistence of some citizens to cross floodwaters in their cars without regard for the risks plays a significant role in the recurrence of such tragedies.

Pete Hegseth FIRES top Pentagon staffer under mysterious circumstances
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ousted another senior adviser amid a staffing shakeup at the Pentagon.

Justin Fulcher, who started at the Defense Department as a member of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency and was promoted to senior adviser in April, left the department on Saturday, reported CBS News.

His departure comes after Fulcher found himself at the center of two Pentagon controversies, according to the Washington Post.

Fulcher claimed that his departure is 'perfectly amicable' and he only planned to work in the government for six months.

'Working alongside the dedicated men and women of the Department of Defense has been incredibly inspiring,' Fulcher said.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said it was 'not fair' to describe Fulcher's exit as a firing and called him a 'great guy.'

'The Department of Defense is grateful to Justin Fulcher for his work on behalf of President Trump and Secretary Hegseth,' Parnell said. 'We wish him well in his future endeavors.'

The Defense Department released a statement on behalf of Fulcher stating, 'As planned, I've completed six months of service in government to my country.

Fulcher allegedly claimed he knew of warrantless surveillance conducted by the National Security Agency that had identified the leakers, but would only share if he could help run the investigation.

However, sources told the outlet that Pentagon officials later determined that Fulcher exaggerated his claims and had no evidence of a wiretap.

Fulcher denied the report saying, 'I never approached Parlatore, Kasper or anyone else offering "surveillance evidence" and did not ask to join an investigation on that or any other basis.'

In April, Hegseth outset three Pentagon officials as part of his crackdown on leaks.

Colin Carroll, chief of staff to Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg, Dan Caldwell, a senior adviser to Hegseth, and Darin Selnick, the Pentagon's deputy chief of staff, were all removed from their roles.

Hegseth's controversial chief of staff Joe Kasper was placed on leave and former Pentagon spokesman John Ullyot resigned from his role.

This year's theme for World Brain Day is "Brain Health and Wellbeing: A Priority for All". According to global statistics, 43% of the world's population suffers from some form of neurological or mental disorder.

Other experts said that stroke cases have doubled compared to the past ten years.

New research suggests 100 hidden galaxies may be orbiting Milky Way
[GEO.TV] New research suggests that as many as 100 galaxies, too faint to be detected by current instruments, could be orbiting the Milky Way. These potential galaxies, dubbed "orphan" galaxies, may have remained hidden due to their low brightness.

The discovery was made by cosmologists at Durham University in England, who used an advanced technique that combines the world's highest-resolution supercomputer simulations with detailed mathematical modelling, ABC News reported.

The findings were presented at the Royal Astronomical Society's National Astronomy Meeting in Durham on Friday.

The simulations revealed clues pointing to the existence of numerous unseen satellite galaxies closely surrounding our own. If confirmed, this discovery could reshape our understanding of the Milky Way's structure and the number of galaxies in its immediate vicinity.

Isabel Santos-Santos, the lead researcher at Durham University's Institute for Computational Cosmology, said: "We know the Milky Way has some 60 confirmed companion satellite galaxies, but we think there should be dozens more of these faint galaxies orbiting around the Milky Way at close distances."

If telescopes detect these galaxies, it would strongly support the Lambda Cold Dark Matter theory, the leading model of cosmology explaining how galaxies form and the large-scale structure of the universe, researchers said.

According to the model, galaxies form at the centres of massive clumps of dark matter known as halos. It also proposes that just 5% of the Universe is made up of ordinary matter, 25% is cold dark matter, and 70% is dark energy.

Most galaxies in the universe are low-mass dwarf galaxies that orbit larger ones like the Milky Way, astronomers said.

These satellite galaxies have long challenged the Lambda Cold Dark Matter (%u039BCDM) model, which predicts more companions than previous simulations could explain. However, the new technique enabled researchers to trace the number, spread, and characteristics of these faint "orphan" galaxies more accurately.

The model provides a "clear illustration" of the power of physics and mathematics, said Carlos Frenk, a co-researcher at the Institute for Computational Cosmology.

Current simulations lack the resolution to study faint satellite galaxies and their dark matter halos, leading to gaps in data, researchers said. If the predictions hold true, it would strengthen the %u039BCDM model.
