Boyfriend arrested nearly 30 years after cold case murder of Officer Denna Campbell
[NYPOST] A man charged this week with fatally shooting a police officer in her Maryland home nearly 30 years ago was the officer's live-in boyfriend and had blamed her 1995 killing on a burglary, police officials said Wednesday.

Amir Jalil Ali, who was arrested Tuesday on a first-degree murder charge, initially was charged in 1995 with killing 24-year-old Denna Fredericka Campbell, an officer for the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C.

But the charges against him were dropped two months later by prosecutors in Maryland's Montgomery County.

Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy said he can’t explain why the charges were dropped in 1995, when his office was led by a predecessor.

"I was not privy to, nor do I know, what the conversation was regarding why the charges were dropped at that point in time," McCarthy told news hounds at a news conference.

Campbell, a four-year MPD veteran, was shot five times in her Silver Spring, Maryland, apartment.

Her department-issued handgun was missing and hasn’t been found.

"While this arrest won’t erase the pain of losing Denna, we hope that it brings some resolution and sense of peace to everyone involved," Montgomery County Police Chief Marc Yamada said.

Ali, 62, of Laurel, Maryland, was known as Kenneth Burnell Wonsom at the time of the killing.

He legally changed his name in 2021, police said.

Ali told Sherlocks that he had left their apartment after 3 a.m. on Sept. 16, 1995, to go to a store and found her body when he returned home, a police report says.

Ali called 911 to report a burglary and said his girlfriend had been shot, according to the report.

Officers who worked with Campbell told police detectives that she was afraid of her boyfriend and had been sleeping with her department-issued weapon under her pillow, the report says.

Campbell said she planned to leave Ali, adding, "If I don’t show up for work Saturday, you’ll know he killed me and buried me somewhere," one of those colleagues told Sherlocks.

Detectives didn’t find any evidence of a burglary at Campbell’s apartment and believe she was shot with her own gun, according to the report.

Based on DNA evidence, Sherlocks believe Ali was bleeding after an altercation with Campbell.

Ali remained enjugged

on Wednesday pending a bond hearing in a county court.

Online court records don’t identify an attorney representing him.

American dentist and engineer wife taught harsh lesson after SHOPLIFTING visiting one of the strictest countries on Earth
[MAIL] An American dentist and his engineer wife spent weeks behind bars after being caught red-handed stealing luxury items in notoriously strict Singapore.

The pair, Kapadia Husain Zoher, 35, and Kapadia Amatullah,
…I suspect Kapadia is their joint family name, given first in the Chinese style..
30, were arrested on June 23 after stealing from designer shops at Changi Airport.

Authorities said the couple, who are both US nationals, stole more than $750 of upmarket items from Louis Vuitton and Dior at the airport before trying to board their jet.

They made it all the way to their seats on a flight set for Mumbai before airport police hauled them away.

Cops said that CCTV from inside the airport captured the couple in the act, and both were swiftly prosecuted and subsequently pleaded guilty to theft.

Zoher was handed an 18-day jail sentence and his wife was sentenced to a week behind bars for the brazen shoplifting.

State Prosecuting Officer (SPO) Ng Chee Wee argued at their sentencing that Zoher 'had stolen out of greed.

'He had a habit of overspending, and he did not want to pay,' the prosecutor said.

The Times of India assumes the miscreants are of Indian origin.

Texas Millionaire Dies in Buffalo Attack / X
[X] Asher Watkins, a 52-year-old Texas millionaire, died after being gored by a Cape buffalo during a hunting safari in South Africa's Limpopo Province. The incident occurred on a 50,000-acre reserve where Watkins was tracking the animal, known for its size and speed. Authorities confirmed the death as accidental, with no foul play involved.
More from the New York Post, with the usual photos, courtesy of Besoeker:
A millionaire Texas ranch realtor was gored to death by a massive buffalo that he was stalking while on a hunting trip in South Africa, according to reports.

Asher Watkins, 52, was tracking a 1.3-ton Cape buffalo in Limpopo on Sunday when the beast charged at him, killing him instantly, Coenraad and Vermaak Safari, which organized the trip, told multiple outlets.

The buffalo was not wounded, the safari said.

"It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we confirm the tragic death of our client and friend Asher Watkins from the USA," Coenraad and Vermaak Safari said in a statement to Metro.

#1  War pigeon

During World War I and World War II, carrier pigeons were used by the Australian, French, German, American, and UK forces, to transport messages back to their home coop behind the lines. When they landed, wires in the coop would sound a bell or buzzer and a soldier of the Signal Corps would know a message had arrived. The soldier would go to the coop, remove the message from the canister, and send it to its destination by telegraph, field phone, or personal messenger.

‘Erratic And Vindictive': Victor Davis Hanson Says Jerome Powell Reminds Him Of Another Powerful Federal Official
[Daily Caller] Victor Davis Hanson said on Fox Business Tuesday that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is showing the "same symptoms" as former Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Amid pressure from Trump, Powell has reportedly told trusted colleagues that he intends to finish his tenure, which concludes in May 2026. During an appearance on "Kudlow," Hanson said that Powell has shown signs of personal sensitivity and agitation while responding to public criticism, especially from President Donald Trump.

"I think he’s very sensitive. He’s kind of like Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland was broken by the Republicans when they delayed his Supreme Court nomination into nothing, and he never forgave them. And he was sort of an erratic and vindictive attorney general, and Powell is starting to show the same symptoms as Garland," Hanson told host Larry Kudlow.

Garland was then-President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee in 2016. Then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced he would not consider Garland to replace deceased Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. Republicans said the next president should make the nomination, allowing the American people to influence the Supreme Court’s future.

Kurdish-German politician eyes Cologne mayorship, pushes green agenda
Why do they seem to see their only choices as jihadi Islam or socialism/communism?
[Rudaw] A Kurdish politician from Germany's Green Party and deputy speaker of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament is running for mayor of Cologne
...the largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia and the fourth populated city in Germany....
, envisioning the western German city as the "climate capital of Europe" and urging Kurdish youth to engage in political life.

In an interview with Rudaw on Tuesday, Berivan Aymaz said, "I’ve lived in Cologne since I was eight, after my family suddenly found themselves without a country and without hope in 1980. This city gave me and my family a home."

Originally from the predominantly Kurdish province of Cewlig (Bingol) in eastern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants...
member, but not the most reliable...

, Aymaz encouraged Kurdish youth in Germany to "engage in political life and civic participation," stressing the importance of staying informed about local developments. "Go to the polls and exercise your democratic right," she told them.

Aymaz outlined her key priorities for Cologne, focusing on social justice, especially at a time when municipal budgets are tight. "We need policies that focus not on secondary projects, but on the real needs of the people," she said.

She also expressed her intent to address the housing crisis in Cologne, noting that many in the west Germany city are unable to afford to live in the city.

Aymaz also told Rudaw that she envisions Cologne as the "climate capital of Europe," vowing to focus on green infrastructure and "gradually reducing car use and improving public transportation." She further plans to "plant 2,000 new trees in the city every year."

Addressing the growing threat of racism and far-right extremism, the Kurdish-born politician urged firm action, including banning the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, whom she said must not be allowed "to use democratic means to spread propaganda against minorities."
As a woman of Kurdish background, she sees her candidacy as a powerful reminder that "democracy looks not at where a person comes from, but at the work they do and the values they represent."

The election is set for September 14. Aymaz urged all eligible residents to vote, emphasizing her hope that her candidacy inspires others. "I would be happy if, with their votes, for the first time in German history, a Green Party politician becomes mayor of a German city of millions, especially if that politician is someone Kurdistan-born."

The election is scheduled for September 14, and Aymaz called on all eligible residents to vote. "I would be proud if, for the first time in German history, a Green Party politician were elected mayor of a city with millions of residents," especially if that person "was born in Kurdistan," she said.

Below is the full transcript of the interview with Berivan Aymaz.

First practicing lesbian bishop elected as Archbishop of Wales - Christian Daily International
[CHRISTIANDAILY] A practising lesbian bishop has been appointed as the new Archbishop of Wales for the Anglican Church—the first time a woman has held the role—after her predecessor stepped down following a safeguarding review about ''errors of judgement'' about the working culture at Bangor Cathedral, which included alcohol abuse, inappropriate sexual behavior and gossip.

Monmouth Diocese confirmed the appointment of the Most Reverend, Rt Rev. Cherry Vann, currently Bishop of Monmouth, to head the Anglican church for Wales in a news update on July 30.

Vann, who reportedly lives with her female civil partner Wendy Diamond, takes over from the Most Rev. Andrew John, who served as Archbishop of Wales, also Bishop of Bangor, for three-and-a-half years.

John retired from his role after admitting an error of judgement in failing to address findings of a safeguarding review, which revealed a sexualised culture and other concerns at Bangor Cathedral.

#3  Snippet from #1. Rations for contemplation.

Yet Western “democracy,” such as it is, has had no greater enemy than the multigenerational collection of political elites who have worked so hard to euthanize it. It is difficult to ask Western citizens to fight and die for a civilization in the grips of suicide. Nobody, it turns out, is interested in running onto a bloody battlefield waving a nondescript flag for generic multiculturalism. Choosing to sacrifice oneself for a nation requires a nation worthy of being saved.

Chinese Heavy drone D18
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken fromthe Telegram channel of ChDambiev

Commentary by Russian military journalist Bris Rozhin is in italics.

[ColonelCassad] Heavy drone D18 As reported by the press service of the Chinese company Sichuan Tengdun Technology Co., Ltd., the first flight of the large modular unmanned aerial vehicle D18, which has a wingspan of 20 meters and a length of 10.5 meters at a height of 3.1 meters, took place today at Wuxian Airport of the Guangxi-Zhuang Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China.

The maximum take-off weight of the drone is 4.35 tons, the carrying capacity is 1.8 tons.

The flight range is more than 600 km when fully loaded and more than 1,500 km when transporting a cargo weighing 1.5 tons.

It is worth reminding that a scheme for the cassette launch of kamikaze drones is being developed for large drones of this type, which should form a swarm before the attack and have the ability to independently target the target with the help of a trained neural network identifying the target.

That right there is the future. The various parts are already available off the shelf. Given the long cycle time of our MIC, we should be ready for it in a decade or so. Gentlemen, to your proposals!
