Shooting at Georgia's Fort Stewart injures 5 soldiers; suspect in custody
[FoxNews] Army soldiers tackle sergeant accused of opening fire at Fort Stewart; 5 wounded. Fort Stewart shooting suspect, Quornelius Radford, in custody

#1  Sgt. Quornelius Radford allegedly opened fire at his place of work this morning, Brig. Gen. John Lubas, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division and Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield, said.

'It did involve his co-workers. We’re still not certain about the motivations,' Lubas said of the attack.

Radford, an automated logistics sergeant, used a personal handgun to carry out the attack. It is unclear how we got the weapon onto the base.

Fellow soldiers tackled Radford after he started shooting, enabling authorities to take him into custody.

'Soldiers in the area that witnessed the shooting immediately and without hesitation tackled the soldier, subdued him. That allowed law enforcement to then take him into custody,' the general said.

Radford has never been deployed to a combat area. He had no disciplinary or behavorial issues that officials were aware of, but the investigation remains ongoing.

'I do believe he was arrested locally for a DUI,' Lubas added. 'That was unknown to his chain of command until the event occurred and we started looking into the law enforcement databases.'

Radford has been interviewed by the Army Criminal Investigation division and is currently being held in pre-trial confinement, awaiting a charging decision.

Newly Released Files Confirm Jeffrey Epstein Was FBI Informant Before 2007 Plea Deal
[Conservative Post] A cache of internal FBI records, pried loose through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, has laid bare what had long been rumored but never formally confirmed: Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier and convicted sex offender, served as a federal informant well before his infamous 2007 plea agreement.

The documents — including a 2008 FBI memo dated September 9 — confirm that Epstein was actively providing information to the bureau under terms negotiated in conjunction with his controversial non-prosecution deal in Florida, according to a bombshell report from Radar. One entry plainly states: "Epstein has also provided information to the FBI as agreed upon." The memo goes further, noting that "no federal prosecution will occur in this matter as long as Epstein continues to uphold his agreement with the State of Florida."

That agreement, brokered by then-U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta, spared Epstein federal charges despite ample evidence of trafficking minors across state lines. Instead, Epstein pleaded guilty to state-level offenses and received a 13-month sentence that allowed him to leave jail for up to 12 hours a day, six days a week.

But these newly surfaced records indicate that Epstein’s cooperation with federal authorities may have begun long before 2007. "These are the smoking gun documents," said one source familiar with the case. "They show Epstein was an active source for the FBI way before his plea deal in 2007." Another intelligence official, speaking off record, described Epstein not merely as an asset but as "a puppet, informant, and spy for the FBI."

Big Balls' Beat Up by ‘Youths' in D.C. After Intervening to Stop a Carjacking
[Fox via Federalist] Ex-DOGE staffer ’Big Balls’ saved a woman in Washington, DC from being carjacked but got subjected to a vicious beating in the process. He was reportedly concussed in the assault. It occurred after a gang of ten youths attacked a woman, trying to seize her vehicle. BB, seeing the crime in progress, intervened, saving the female driver, but got viciously brutalized. President Donald Trump commented on the attack, saying crime in DC was out of control and threatened to federalize the capital. The attack occurred on either Sunday or Monday (via Fox News):

Trump warns he will take 'federal control' of Washington, DC as youth violence continues
[FoxNews] Elon Musk says DOGE employee 'beaten to the point of concussion' trying to save woman from DC assault

President Donald Trump on Monday threatened to federalize Washington, D.C., calling for local minors and gang members over the age of 14 to be prosecuted as adults, after a famed former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee was allegedly beaten in the nation's capital.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said local youth and gang members are "randomly attacking, mugging, maiming, and shooting innocent citizens, at the same time knowing that they will be almost immediately released."

Along with the post, Trump shared a photo of a bloodied man on the street.

Multiple sources told Fox News Digital the person in the photo shared by the president is Edward Coristine, the teenager known as "Big Balls," who previously worked for DOGE.

Sources told Fox News Digital Coristine was violently attacked late Sunday or early Monday.

"The most recent victim was beaten mercilessly by local thugs," Trump wrote. "… Perhaps it should have been done a long time ago, then this incredible young man, and so many others, would not have had to go through the horrors of Violent Crime. If this continues, I am going to exert my powers, and FEDERALIZE this City. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

Former DOGE head Elon Musk weighed in on X, sharing more of the story.

"A few days ago, a gang of about a dozen young men tried to assault a woman in her car at night in DC," Musk wrote. "A @Doge team member saw what was happening, ran to defend her and was severely beaten to the point of concussion, but he saved her. It is time to federalize DC."

When speaking with reporters Tuesday night, Trump said, "Either they're going to straighten their act out in terms of government and in terms of protection, or we're going to have to federalize and run it the way it's supposed to be run."

The president said it appears criminals are "not afraid" of the police, because "nothing ever happens to them."

"Washington, D.C. must be safe, clean, and beautiful for all Americans and, importantly, for the World to see," he wrote in the post. "If D.C. doesn’t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City, and run this City how it should be run, and put criminals on notice that they’re not going to get away with it anymore."

The most recent attack came after a House staffer in May was the victim of an armed carjacking in Navy Yard.

The same month, affiliate FOX 5 D.C. reported that a large group of teens took over a Navy Yard park, leading to several arrests and one hospitalization.

In July, congressional intern Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, 21, a 16-year-old boy and a woman were shot in what appeared to be a drive-by shooting. Tarpinian-Jachym later died.

In April, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy was walking to the Navy Yard Metro Station when his staff member told him a Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority police officer had been stabbed in the face.

The Metropolitan Police Department, U.S. Capitol Police and White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's requests for comment.

#1  Hired thugs. Don't think this wasn't a terrorist attack.
I'm surprised all the original members of DOGE aren't dead by now. If not for Elon Musk's X and the new radical age of government transparency he enabled, they'd all be as dead as Seth Rich, who was murdered for leaking the DNC emails to Wikileaks.
You remember Wikileaks? The org labeled as a threat by the US intelligence agencies?

-Short Attention Span Theater-
America's wealthy are quietly buying their way out with 'golden' visas
[FoxNews] Five Caribbean islands offer citizenship through government contributions or real-estate purchases

America’s elite are increasingly drawn to "golden" visa programs with new opportunities emerging in sunny and desirable locations.

The latest countries to be included in the trend are some Caribbean Islands — namely, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Lucia.

The islands offer citizenship-by-investment (CBI) programs, also dubbed "golden passports."

The visa can be obtained by making one of two qualifying investments.

The first is "a direct contribution to the Government (commonly known as the contribution to the Economic Diversification Fund route), starting at U.S. $200,000 for a single applicant," according to the Commonwealth of Dominica.

The second is "the purchase of pre-approved real estate at a minimum value of U.S. $200,000."

Many Caribbean Islands do not have wealth, gift, inheritance, foreign income or capital gains taxes.

The CBI program allows investors to retain their existing citizenship and grants visa-free entry to most countries around the world.

Nadia Dyson, owner of Luxury Locations Real Estate in Antiqua, told the BBC there has been a surge in business.

"Up to 70% of all buyers right now are wanting citizenship, and the vast majority are from the U.S.," Dyson said.

"This time last year, it was all lifestyle buyers and a few CBI. Now they're all saying, ‘I want a house with citizenship.’ We've never sold so many before," she told the BBC.

New Zealand recently saw a surge of Americans seeking its "Active Investor Plus" visa, Fox News Digital previously reported.

In April, the government relaxed its visa rules to attract more high-net-worth individuals, with such changes as removing an English language requirement and reducing the amount of time required to spend in New Zealand.

In under three months, 189 golden visa applications were received, while previous applications were at 116 submissions over the span of more than two-and-a-half years, Reuters reported.

Nearly half the applications were submitted by U.S. citizens.

'Hero' Dog Defends Boyfriend From Two Bears in Backyard Attack
[Newsweek] A dog has been praised for her remarkable display of loyalty and courage when she took on two charging bears to protect her canine companion.

The pit bull mix Marion was rushed to the vets after she came up against two wild bears while spending time in the backyard.

Marion was playing with her "boyfriend" Bruno, a tiny chiweenie belonging to a friend of her owner. Bruno began barking as two bears approaching the property, and when one of the bears lunged toward him, Marion didn't hesitate.

"Marion immediately ran to defend him, squaring up with two bears. One of the bears attacked her, pinning her on the ground and biting her on her neck and face," Claire Samford, Referral Coordinator at the Emergency Vet Clinic of Niceville and Destin told Newsweek. "Miraculously, she escaped and was brought to our clinic for emergency care."

Marion was rushed to the vets where she received emergency care for her injuries. A video shared by the clinic on TikTok showed her standing, with two bandaged legs and a caption that read: "Our Maryann is 'Marion' who didn't hesitate to take on not one, but two bears to save her boyfriend."

The only bear species in Florida is the black bear, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission estimate there are around 4,000 bears in the state.

There is evidence that the prevalence of bears in Florida has increased in recent years. According to data from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) the total number of bear-related calls in Florida has significantly increased over the 20-year span, from 1,919 calls in 2005 to 7,311 calls in 2024—a nearly 4-fold increase.

In 2024, non-core complaints (calls about bear interactions that could be positive or negative) reached their highest ever at 65 percent, suggesting that more bears are being seen in communities, though not necessarily causing harm, while core complaints (where conflicts occur) made up 35 percent of calls.

Marion's owner later shared an update on her condition: "Marion's wounds are already closed and healing nicely. She was back to her normal self the very next day as if nothing happened. She's so back to normal that I'm worried that she would go after the bear again if she saw one, especially if she thinks she needs to protect us.

"She has no fear other than taking a bath, so I'm on high alert. She was homeless her first year of life before we adopted her, so I think she has a lot of toughness in her from surviving on the streets alone."

#1  I lived on Bear Mountain in Evergreen, CO for a while. West of Denver.

Was watching the Avalanche lose the Stanley Cup.
Bill, my red spotted hound and I got off the couch and went outside at the 2nd period.

A large shadow of something ran off the porch with Bill right after and me behind him.
Into the brush, he shrieked, and the bear was gone.

I found him still alive but pretty crunched up.
Later examination at the 24x7 emer vet suggested the bear had grabbed him around the middle then moved up to a shoulder on the way to his head.

Punctured lung, separated shoulder and half his face laying on the ground.
The vet was good. Three days later I took him home. Dogs are tough.
Changed his name to Lumpy.

The Sun has experienced its strongest new M-class flare this month
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Another M-class flare occurred on the Sun — the fifth and strongest this month. This was reported on August 5 in the Telegram channel of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to the schedule on the website, the flare began at 18:46 Moscow time and ended at 18:58, receiving the index M4.4. This is already the fifth M-class flare on the Sun since August 3.

"The main flare region, where almost all the explosive energy is currently concentrated, No. 4168, continues to be located directly opposite the Earth, but, contrary to everything that can be assumed, has almost no effect on the Earth. At the moment, a weak plasma emission has been recorded only after yesterday's M2.0 flare. In all other cases, the main energy and mass were locked in the solar atmosphere," the report says.

Scientists noted that after the flare, a medium-power mass ejection was recorded, initially directed past the Earth.

On August 4, two powerful flares occurred on the Sun. The M2.0 flare was registered at 07:57 Moscow time and lasted 13 minutes. The second M1.4 flare occurred at 08:15 Moscow time and lasted 16 minutes.

Over 82,000 People Evacuated in Beijing Due to Heavy Rains
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] More than 82,000 people were evacuated in Beijing due to heavy rains. This was reported on August 5 by the Xinhua news agency.

"As of 9:00 p.m. Monday (4:00 p.m. Moscow time), more than 82,000 people had been evacuated from various parts of Beijing due to heavy rains. Authorities have closed 201 tourist areas, 3,480 guesthouses and 245 camping areas. In addition, work has been suspended at more than 3,200 construction sites across the city," the agency noted.

On the afternoon of August 4, the Beijing Meteorological Bureau issued a red alert for heavy rainfall, the highest level in China's four-level warning system.

Beijing has also activated its highest level of flood emergency response.

"Along with this, the water management department and the capital's meteorological service issued a joint warning in connection with possible flooding. Among the most vulnerable areas is the Miyun district, and the Fangshan, Mentougou and Huairou districts are also under threat. Residents are urged to take shelter during thunderstorms, avoid driving on flooded roads and stay away from high ground and rivers," the publication added.

-Land of the Free
USSC double victory for President Trump: two 6-3 rulings on nationwide injunctions and parental rights in schools… and more!
[X]

2/ The Immediate Policy Avalanche

Policies now moving forward without court interference:

• Birthright citizenship (30-day countdown)
• Sanctuary city funding cuts
• Refugee resettlement suspension
• Federal transgender surgery funding stopped

3/ The Shocking District Breakdown

Out of 94 total federal districts in America, just 5 liberal districts issued 35 of the 40 nationwide injunctions blocking Trump's agenda.

Five districts were controlling policy for 330 million Americans.

4/ The Historical Scale

Trump on the unprecedented judicial resistance:

• More nationwide injunctions than entire 20th century combined
• Nearly 700 federal judges could previously block presidential policies
• Policies tied up in courts for years

5/ The Parental Rights Victory

Todd Blanche on the second ruling:

• Parents can opt out of transgender ideology in schools
• Restores parental rights to decide children's education
• No longer forced exposure to objectionable content

6/ The Strategic Legal Approach

How Trump's team won:

• Challenged injunction power itself, not underlying policies
• Focused on separation of powers, not constitutional merits
• Avoided fighting birthright citizenship directly

7/ The Terror Gang Numbers

Pam Bondi's enforcement update:

• 2,711 arrests of terrorists and gang members today
• TDA, MS-13, Sinaloa cartels targeted
• HSI investigations ongoing
• Violent criminals are the priority

8/ The Systematic Abuse

Trump described the broken system:

"If any one of the nearly 700 federal judges disagreed with the policy of a duly elected president, he or she could block that policy from going into effect for many years."

Democracy vs. judicial tyranny.

9/ The Constitutional Restoration

Trump's framing:

• Brings back the Constitution
• Restores separation of powers
• Opposite of power concentration
• Stops judicial branch from stealing executive authority

10/ The Green Light Forward

Trump explained the urgency:

"We have to act quickly when it comes to illegal immigration. We have murderers, killers, drug dealers" and the old system would take "years to overturn" wrong decisions.

The American people voted for these policies.

11/ Why This All Matters

This solves the timing problem we had:

• Nationwide injunctions used to tie up policies in courts for 2+ years
• Presidents only have 4-year terms
• By the time appeals were won, it was too late to implement
• This ruling removes that delay

China-Japan-Koreas
Global outbreak fears surge as virus in China prompts quarantines and thousands of new cases are reported
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Chinese officials have imposed Covid-like quarantines in parts of the country as cases of chikungunya virus continue to surge.

More than 7,000 infections have been reported in the southern city of Foshan, in Guangdong province, prompting authorities to isolate patients in hospital wards covered with mosquito nets.

They are required to remain there for a week or until they test negative, if sooner.

No deaths have yet been reported.

The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 2 travel advisory for Guangdong Province, urging Americans to take extra precautions when visiting the region.

Travelers are advised to wear insect repellent, cover up with long clothing, and stay in air-conditioned or screened accommodation to avoid mosquito bites.

At least 12 other cities in Guangdong have reported infections, with about 3,000 cases being reported over the past week, bringing the total to over 10,000 in the country.

Those experiencing fevers, joint pain or rashes are being asked to visit the nearest hospital so they can be tested for the virus.

Additionally, officials had ordered travelers from Foshan to undergo a 14-day home quarantine, similar to Covid restrictions, but that has since been withdrawn.

Hong Kong this week confirmed its first case of the virus: a 12-year-old boy developed a fever, rash and joint pain after visiting Foshan in July.

Chikungunya is primarily spread by Aedes mosquitoes — the same species that carry dengue and Zika. It is rarely fatal but can cause debilitating symptoms.

Chikungunya infections are most common in Asia, Africa and South America, though more recently cases have also emerged across Europe and the US.

Nearly half a million people were infected during a major outbreak in 2004–2005, which spread across Africa, Asia and the Americas.

Dr Diana Rojas Alvarez, a medical officer with the World Health Organization, warned: 'We are seeing history repeating itself,' referencing the scale of the earlier epidemic.

The virus can cause fever, joint pain and, in severe cases, life-threatening complications involving the heart and brain.

Chikungunya is not spread through bodily fluids or saliva, it can only be transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito.

The CDC is urging Americans to ensure they are vaccinated if they are at increased risk of exposure.

In late 2023, the FDA approved a vaccine called IXCHIQ for adults aged 18 and older, and in February 2025, a second vaccine, VIMKUNYA, approved for people aged 12 and up, was licensed.

Both vaccines are non-routine and recommended only for travelers heading to outbreak areas or for laboratory workers at risk.

A global spike in cases began in early 2025, with major outbreaks reported in the Indian Ocean islands of La Réunion, Mayotte and Mauritius.

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, around 240,000 chikungunya cases and 90 related deaths have been recorded in 16 countries so far this year, as of August 4.

The virus has also spread to Madagascar, Somalia, Kenya and India and is making its way to Europe.

Case counts have also been increasing in Samoa, Tonga, French Polynesia, Fiji and Kiribati.

As of August 5, the CDC reports 46 cases of chikungunya infection in the US this year, all contracted by travelers returning from high-risk areas. No deaths have been reported.

While it's unclear exactly where the infections occurred, the agency has issued an elevated risk notice for Brazil, Colombia, India, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, and now China.

Roughly 200 travel-related cases were reported in the US in 2024, with no fatalities recorded.

According to the CDC, chikungunya was rarely detected in American travelers before 2006. But between 2006 and 2013, the US logged around 30 imported cases a year, all in people who had recently visited affected regions in Asia, Africa or the Indian Ocean.

In 2014, a total of 2,799 cases were reported - including 12 that were locally acquired - in states and territories such as Florida, Texas, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, making it the country's worst year on record for the virus.

Though rarely fatal, chikungunya can cause a range of symptoms, most notably a sudden onset of fever and intense joint pain. Other common effects include muscle aches, headache, nausea, fatigue and skin rash.

The acute phase of illness typically resolves within one to two weeks, but joint pain may linger for weeks, months or even years in some cases.

In rare instances, chikungunya infections can lead to severe complications affecting the eyes, heart and nervous system.

Newborns, seniors over 65, and people with underlying health issues face a higher risk of developing serious outcomes, including cardiovascular problems and, according to some studies, even Type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure triggered by post-viral inflammation.

Importantly, chikungunya cannot be transmitted from person to person. Instead, the virus spreads when a mosquito bites an infected person, becomes a carrier, and then bites someone else.

Pregnant women who become infected near the time of delivery can also pass the virus to their baby during birth, which can result in severe illness in the newborn.

There is no antiviral treatment for chikungunya, but symptoms can be managed with rest, plenty of fluids, and pain relief such as acetaminophen.

Vance, Bondi, Patel to huddle at VP residence for Epstein strategy meeting
[FoxNews] Vice President JD Vance is hosting senior Trump administration officials at his residence in Washington, D.C. for dinner on Wednesday evening to discuss, among other things, how the administration should handle the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein fallout and move forward, Fox News has learned.

Vance invited U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche to dinner at the sprawling, 12-acre vice-presidential residence in Northwest Washington. White House chief of staff Susie Wiles is also expected to be in attendance, according to sources familiar.

News of the dinner was first reported by CNN. It comes after weeks of unsuccessful attempts by senior Trump officials to quell mounting public pressure to release more information related to the Epstein investigation — underscoring the sticking power of the Epstein scandal, including among Trump supporters, who have been some of the leading voices demanding the release of additional information.

A spokesperson for Vance disputed the CNN report in question, which he described to Fox News as "pure fiction."

"There was never a supposed meeting scheduled at the vice president’s residence to discuss Epstein strategy," William Martin, Vance's communications director, said in a statement.

Two well-placed sources in the administration subsequently confirmed to Fox News that the dinner at the vice president’s residence is taking place. They said that the dinner — while not focused entirely on the Epstein fallout — will be one of the topics they plan to discuss.

The Justice Department and the White House have also struggled to coordinate their messaging on the ongoing fallout from the Epstein scandal, following the release of an unsigned July 7 memo that said they did not plan to release additional information about the investigation.

Most recently, the White House and DOJ have been at odds over whether to release an audio file and transcript from Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche’s interview with Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell late last month, senior administration officials confirmed.

It is unclear how long the audio footage and transcripts from the interviews between Blanche's interview with Maxwell are, but they do exist, Fox News Digital reported yesterday, and discussions remain underway today involving whether — and when — to release the transcript.

Fox News Digital reported yesterday that DOJ officials have both the audio and transcript from Blanche's interview with Maxwell, which took place over two days at the U.S. Attorney's office near the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida, where Maxwell had been serving out a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking.

Maxwell was transferred last week without explanation to a new, minimum-security women's federal prison camp in Texas.

Anything released by the Trump administration would almost certainly involve heavily redacting any identifying information of individuals named in the transcript in order to protect victims — something Bondi has stressed in public on multiple occasions.

News of Vance's dinner prompted fresh concerns from family members of one Epstein victim, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who committed suicide earlier this year.

"We understand that Vice President JD Vance will hold a strategy session this evening at his residence with administration officials," Giuffre's sibling said in a statement Wednesday shared with Fox News Digital. "Missing from this group is, of course, any survivor of the vicious crimes of convicted perjurer and sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein. Their voices must be heard, above all," they said.

"We reiterate that Ghislaine Maxwell should have remained in a maximum security prison and does not deserve the luxuries currently afforded her."

US Coast Guard Names Causes of Titan Submersible Disaster
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The OceanGate company was the main culprit in the Titan bathyscaphe disaster, which occurred during a dive in the Atlantic Ocean in 2023. This was reported on the US Coast Guard website on August 5.

Experts say the tragedy was caused by OceanGate's poor design, certification, maintenance and inspection procedures for the Titan submersible. The report also cites a "toxic corporate culture" at the company that contributed to poor decision-making.

In addition, experts noted that the current legislation for underwater operations and new types of vessels is not sufficiently developed, and the system for reporting violations under the Law on the Protection of Seafarers' Rights has proven ineffective.

"This maritime tragedy and the loss of five lives could have been prevented," said Titan MBI Chairman Jason Neubauer.

According to media reports, during the investigation it was established that the company did not conduct the necessary research and did not eliminate the defects in the bathyscaphe's hull after the expedition to the Titanic.

The crew of the Titan bathyscaphe, which sank on June 18, 2023, during an expedition to the wreckage of the Titanic, sent an "everything is fine" signal shortly before the tragedy. The crew's last message said that the bathyscaphe dropped two weights used as ballast, after which communication was finally lost.

There were five people on board the submersible: OceanGate founder and CEO Stockton Rush, British billionaire Hamish Harding, Pakistani businessman and billionaire Shahzada Dawood, his 19-year-old son Suleiman, and French aquanaut Paul-Henri Narjol.

On February 12, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) released an audio recording of what was believed to be the explosion of the Titan submersible. The sound of the explosion was recorded by a NOAA recorder located approximately 1,500 km from the scene. The recording features white noise followed by a loud rumble.
