Abdulrahman Waziri, a 31-year-old former Afghan soldier and U.S. military ally, was shot and killed on Sunday, April 27, in Houston, Texas, following a verbal altercation. The incident occurred outside the Gables apartment complex in Richmond, a suburb of Houston.
According to the Houston Police Department, Waziri had parked his vehicle in front of the mailboxes when a dispute arose with another driver. The altercation quickly escalated, and the other individual opened fire, shooting Waziri multiple times and killing him at the scene.

Authorities confiscated the weapon used in the incident, but after consulting with the District Attorney’s Office, the police decided not to immediately arrest or charge the individual, citing the need for further investigation.
Waziri’s brother, Abdullah Khan, told Click2Houston that their family had resettled in the U.S. for safety after Waziri served alongside U.S. Special Forces during the war in Afghanistan. "We came here for a safe life, but now even here we are not safe," he said. Waziri is survived by his wife and two young daughters.
