New rantburg.com server -- UPDATE
by Chris Covert
Rantburg Backend mechanic

We are proceeding much faster than anticipated in moving to our new permanent home.

This post outlines what has happened to the changeover and what to expect.

There have been changes.

1) The new rantburg.com will reside on a single quadcore Xeon CPU and RAID electronics, instead of the previously specified dual quadcore processor. The new server still has 32 gigs of RAM.

In the early going with the hosting provider, I had a devil of a time getting their RAID rig to work. My previous experience in setting up FreeBSD on a RAID rig in the past have been singularly negative. After three complete self-installations which failed, and me begging the hardware guys to move to a bare metal server, the hardware people decided to let me have what I needed.

Don't get me wrong. I love those guys. They are polite, knowledgeable, with years of professional experience behind them -- everything I'm not.

So, rantburg.com will be on a one terabyte SD drive bare metal server, instead of the virtual rig. This will make rantburg.com much more stable.

2) Thinking seriously about moving the changeover up by one, possibly two weeks. Setting up the new server was at times hard, moving from php 8.0 to php 8.3, and overhauling the apache php interpreter to an entirely new interpreter but it appears it is ready.

When I do decide it is time, I will post a post with the title "The changeover is tonight." At midnight, the database is backed up for the final time, and moved to the new server. Any activity on ranturg.com after that time will be gone forever.

At the same time, there will be an inevitable delay as the rantburg.com name is propagated throughout the domain name system. rantburg.com will be for some unavailable for a brief period of time. But newrantburg.1dogstar.net is now and always will be available.

#6  #5 Client upgraded their system (without telling us, of course) and our monitoring network didn't play well with their new configurations (lots of drama directed at us for something they did, not unusual).

Initially opting for the RAID dual/quad core package was 100 percent my fault. I should have known better, but at that moment I didn't. Last time I tried to install on a RAID rig was FreeBSD 9X, so I figure, FreddBSD 14 was an improvement, to the point where I could just jump in as I always had.

It wasn't until after my third self install I began to beg them for the single processor machine.

Afghanistan
Tolo News: Taliban Begins Closing Beauty Salons in Kabul
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Taliban movement ruling Afghanistan (under UN sanctions for terrorist activities) has begun closing beauty salons and women's hairdressers in Kabul. This was reported on August 10 by the Telegram channel Tolo News.
Of course they are, further isolating women and removing them from the public sphere — raising the heat under the pot until the frog is completely boiled.
"The Taliban in Kabul have closed hundreds of women's hair salons. According to witnesses, the Taliban are searching homes, finding hair salons and destroying or confiscating their equipment," the article, published on August 9, says.

According to the publication, this is being done to advance the Taliban's course of ousting women from the social and economic spheres. Before the ban, 60,000 women worked in the beauty industry.

In July, Afghanistan International reported that Taliban police had carried out raids in Kabul, detaining dozens of women allegedly because of their inappropriate appearance. Police detained them in restaurants, shopping malls and on the streets, then took them away to an unknown location.

In December 2024, ABC News reported that Afghan authorities had banned non-governmental organizations from hiring women, threatening to suspend their activities if they failed to comply.

One killed, several wounded in armed clashes in Mahrah province — Hodhod Yemen News Agency
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] A person was killed, and several others were maimed in armed festivities that erupted Sunday morning between two tribes in the Hawf district of Mahrah province, eastern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
A local source reported that the festivities broke out between button men from the Kada and Balhaf tribes in the village of Al Fatak in the coastal area of Yaroub, following a dispute over a plot of land.

Members of both tribes used light and medium weapons in the festivities, while local authorities or forces loyal to the Saudi-led coalition did not intervene to stop the festivities.

The source indicated that tensions remain between the two tribes, with no solution to the disputes that led to the armed festivities.

Britain
Thousands rally in London to demand UK step up pressure on Hamas to release hostages
[IsraelTimes] Relatives of the hostages seized by Gazook terror groups on October 7, 2023, rallied earlier today with supporters in London, demanding their release and criticizing the UK government’s decision to potentially recognize a Paleostinian state next month.

Organizers Stop the Hate UK and several Jewish organizations say the march and rally at Downing Street was in part aimed at urging Prime Minister Keir Starmer to prioritize the release of the remaining hostages.

Out of 251 hostages captured during Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
-led invasion, 49 are still being held in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, along with the body of an Israeli soldier who was killed in Gaza in 2014. Of those still captive, 20 are believed to still be alive.

The rally comes after Starmer announced on July 30 that the UK will formally recognize the State of Paleostine in September, unless Israel takes various "substantive steps," including agreeing to a ceasefire in Gaza.

The UK leader also detailed several demands for Hamas, including releasing all the hostages, but has not said that that is a precondition for the UK recognition step.

Noga Guttman, the cousin of 24-year-old hostage Evyatar David, was among the hundreds to attend Sunday’s London event, according to organizers.

Hamas released a video last week in which David, emaciated, was shown digging what he feared would become his own grave, sparking worldwide revulsion.

Organizers say other attendees included the relatives of Avinatan Or, who was kidnapped from the Nova music festival with his girlfriend Noa Argamani.

Argamani was rescued by Israeli forces last June.

The UK’s Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis also took part in the march.

The rally, which featured speeches by various relatives of some of the 251 hostages, was endorsed by almost all denominations of Judaism represented in the UK, including the Modern Orthodox United Synagogue, the Sephardi community, Reform Judaism, Liberal Judaism, and Masorti Judaism.

"The situation for the hostages is absolutely desperate," a spokesperson for the Campaign Against Antisemitism, one of the groups attending, says.

"People from right across the Jewish community, from every denomination, are uniting with us to say that the UK must focus all of its diplomatic pressure on securing the return of the hostages."

London police up arrest tally to 522 at rally for proscribed group Palestine Action
[IsraelTimes] Number thought to be highest ever for arrests at protest in capital, includes over 100 protesters aged over 70; critics accuse government of turning Met into ‘thought police’

London’s police service said Sunday that officers had arrested 522 people the previous day for breaching anti-terror laws by supporting the recently proscribed group Paleostine Action.

In an update to its previous arrest tally, the Met said all but one of those 522 arrests took place at a Parliament Square protest and were for displaying placards backing Paleostine Action.

The other arrest for the same offense took place at nearby Russell Square as thousands rallied at an anti-Israel demonstration organized by the UK’s Paleostine Coalition.

The 522 arrest total is thought to be the highest ever recorded at a single protest in the UK capital.

The Met made 10 further arrests, including six for assaults on officers, though none was maimed, it added.

The force said the average age of those arrested on Saturday was 54, with six teenagers, 97 aged in their 70s and 15 octogenarians. A roughly equal number of men and women were detained.

The government outlawed Paleostine Action on July 5, days after it took responsibility for a break-in at an air force base in southern England that caused an estimated £7 million ($9.3 million) of damage to two aircraft.

Britannia’s interior ministry has said Paleostine Action was also suspected of other "serious attacks" that involved "violence, significant injuries and extensive criminal damage."

In a statement following the latest mass arrests, British Interior Minister Yvette Cooper defended the government’s decision, saying: "UK national security and public safety must always be our top priority."

"The assessments are very clear — this is not a non-violent mostly peaceful organization," she added.

Police across the UK have made scores of similar arrests since July 5, when being a member of Paleostine Action or supporting the group became a criminal offense punishable by up to 14 years in prison.

Police announced this week that the first three people had been charged in the English and Welsh criminal justice system with such backing following their arrests at a July 5 demo.

In its update Sunday, the Met revealed a further 26 case files following other arrests on that day are due to be submitted to prosecutors "imminently" and that more would follow related to later protests.

It believes 30 of those held Saturday had been arrested at previous recent Paleostine Action protests.

Eighteen people remained in jug Sunday lunchtime, but were set to be bailed out within hours, the Met added.

It said officers from its counterterrorism command will now "work to put together the case files required to secure charges against those arrested as part of this operation."

Fizzle: No major incidents reported in Greek ‘Day of Action’ against Israel
[IsraelTimes] No major incidents have been reported from the “Day of Action” organized today by Greek pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel groups.

Social media pages connected with BDS Greece and several other anti-Israel organizations in Greece posted photos of numerous small gatherings on different islands throughout the country. Most appear to have just a handful of participants, or several dozen at most.

Protest coordinators had threatened demonstrations at more than 100 locations around Greece to protest Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza. The Foreign Ministry had urged Israelis in Greece to avoid protests, refrain from displaying visible Israeli symbols, and to stay alert in crowded places and keep family updated on their location.

Iraq
Iraq arrests 23 suspected ISIS members over plot to target Arbaeen pilgrims: Judiciary
[Rudaw] Iraqi intelligence forces on Sunday captured a "terrorist" network comprising nearly two dozen suspected Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) affiliates who were allegedly plotting attacks against Shiite pilgrims participating in the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage - one of the world’s largest religious gatherings - in southern Iraq.

According to the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA), the arrests were made under the supervision of a judge from the Karbala Investigation Court and carried out by the Falcons Intelligence Cell. The operation led to the arrest of "23 terrorism defendants" - spread across Iraq’s mid-Euphrates southern provinces and the capital, Baghdad - including one woman. "Their confessions have been formally approved by the judiciary."

The Karbala Investigation Court stated that the suspects confessed to planning multiple "terrorist plots" to target "the safety and security of Arbaeen visitors."

"The first plot involved the manufacturing and planting of bombs along the routes used by pilgrims," while "the second plot was to poison the food containers provided to the pilgrims," in addition to setting fire to the makeshift service processions that offer accommodation, food, and beverages to Arbaeen visitors."

The mid-Euphrates region includes the provinces of Babil, Karbala, Najaf, al-Qadisiyyah, Muthanna, Dhi Qar, Maysan, Basra, and Wasit. Millions of pilgrims from these areas are currently journeying to the shrine city of Karbala to participate in the Arbaeen pilgrimage, which marks the end of the 40-day mourning period for Imam Hussein ibn Ali - the grandson of Prophet Muhammad - who was killed in the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.

This year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage is set to culminate on August 15 in Karbala.

The Karbala Investigations Court further stated on Sunday that ISIS had recruited the captured individuals through a process that "began with brainwashing," followed by "integrating them into groups for distorted religious indoctrination," and ultimately "forcing them to pledge allegiance to the terrorist organization’s leadership."

In a statement issued Sunday, Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council called on citizens to remain vigilant and urged families to "closely monitor the online activities of their relatives for any signs of suspicious behavior."

The Council also warned Arbaeen procession organizers to "prevent individuals of unknown identity from accessing areas where food and beverages are being prepared" to ensure the safety of pilgrims.

Iraq arrests seven ISIS suspects in separate operations
[Rudaw] Iraqi security forces on Sunday arrested seven suspected members of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) in separate operations across the country, state media reported, as Baghdad continues cracking down on jihadist remnants.

Security forces from Iraq’s Military Intelligence Directorate "carried out several preemptive operations in various provinces of the country based on accurate intelligence information ... which resulted in the arrest of 7 terrorists," the state Iraqi News Agency cited the directorate as saying.

They were arrested under Article Four of the Counter-Terrorism Law of 2005, according to the statement.

The article states that anyone found guilty of committing a terror offense is given a death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
, with life imprisonment given to those who assist or hide those convicted of terrorism.

ISIS rose to power and seized swathes of Iraqi and Syrian land in a brazen offensive in 2014, declaring a so-called "caliphate."

The group was territorially defeated in Iraq and Syria in 2017 and 2019 respectively, but it continues to pose security risks through hit-and-run attacks, kidnappings, and bombings.

In Iraq, ISIS is particularly active in a vast stretch of land disputed between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), which includes parts of Nineveh, Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
Diyala, and Salahaddin provinces.

Despite the threats, Iraqi authorities stress that attacks by ISIS have largely simmered down.

On Friday, Iraqi security forces arrested a "female terrorist" in charge of distributing bail for ISIS members in Salahaddin province.

A day prior, five ISIS members were nabbed in separate security operations in Nineveh, Anbar, and Maysan.

IDF says it foiled weapons smuggling attempt from Egypt using drone
[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it foiled another attempt to smuggle weapons into Israel from Egypt using a drone today.

The drone had been identified crossing the border from Egypt into Israel before it was downed.

Troops located the drone, which was found to be ferrying 10 rifles, the military says, adding that the contraband and drone were handed over to the police.

In the past year, there have been frequent attempts to bring weapons and drugs over the Egyptian border using drones. There have also been attempts to smuggle similar contraband from Israel into Gaza using drones.

Three arrested on suspicion of planning terror attacks against Israeli civilians, soldiers
[IsraelTimes] Police officers and Shin Bet agents nabbed three people, including a father and son, suspected of plotting terror attacks against Israeli civilians and security forces.

The suspects — all currently in jug — planned to stage a bombing attack at a checkpoint in northern Jerusalem, assassinate someone they believed to be an Israeli air force pilot, and shoot up a nightclub in central Israel, police say.

A senior police investigator tells Ynet that the probe represents "one of the most serious cases we’ve handled in the unit," saying the arrest of the three suspects prevented a mass casualty attack.

The investigation was opened after the father, who resides with his son in Kufr Aqab, reached out to an undercover cop with an offer to sell him explosives meant for terror attacks.

The father and son had both been employed as cooks at a restaurant and retirement home, respectively, in central Israel, according to Ynet.

The outlet reports that the father is an Arab Moslem who married and had a son with a Jewish Israeli woman. The two have since divorced.

The detained son, Jewish by virtue of his mother, reportedly converted to Islam after he was disqualified from serving in the IDF, for reasons that remain unclear.

The pair was arrested by the Jerusalem District police’s investigations and intelligence unit in late June. Officers seized bombmaking components, ammunition and ready-to-use pipe bombs when raiding apartments that the two had stayed in, police say.

The third suspect, a resident of East Jerusalem in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of preparing explosives with the father and hiding them in his home. He also planned to attack security forces.

A prosecutor’s declaration was filed against the three, and they will be charged with security offenses in the coming days, law enforcement announces.

Katz: IDF to remain in north West Bank refugee camps until year’s end at least
[IsraelTimes] ‘Today there is no terror in the camps,’ says defense minister; Israel nabs 3 suspects accused of planning major terror attack; Arab Israeli man said killed by troops in Jericho

Defense Minister Israel Katz said Sunday that IDF troops will remain deployed to northern West Bank refugee camps at least until the end of the year, committing to the continuation of Israeli military presence in the densely populated Paleostinian towns for several more months.

Meanwhile Israeli security forces said they had arrested three West Bank residents who had been planning a major terror attack in Israel, as well as attacks on security forces in the West Bank.

In January, the military launched an offensive against terror operatives in the northern West Bank. The offensive, dubbed "Operation Iron Wall," began in the Jenin refugee camp, adjacent to the city of Jenin, and later expanded to include refugee camps near the city of Tulkarem in the western West Bank — the Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps.

The offensive followed a spike in West Bank violence, following October 7, 2023. Since the Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
onslaught, troops have arrested some 6,000 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 2,350 affiliated with Hamas.

According to Katz, the Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nur Shams camps were hotbeds of terror, funded, and armed by Iran, to act as another front against Israel.

There are 20 historical refugee camps in the West Bank, all of which were established shortly after 1948, housing Paleostinians who fled or were expelled during the War of Independence from homes located in what is now the State of Israel. Over the years, these camps have evolved into densely populated and enclosed neighborhoods.

In the past eight months, Katz said, the IDF has carried out an "intensive" offensive, during which residents of the camps were evacuated, button men were killed, and infrastructure used by terror groups were destroyed.

"The IDF will remain inside the camps at this stage, at least until the end of the year, under my directives," Katz said in his statement.

"Today, there is no terror in the camps, and the scope of terror alerts in Judea and Samaria [West Bank] has dropped by 80 percent," he added.

In May, the military reported that it had killed over 100 terror operatives and arrested around 320 wanted suspects, seizing approximately 450 weapons in the northern West Bank. The IDF has not updated its figures since then, but operations have continued.

In the same month, the UN agency for Paleostinian refugees, UNRWA, said that approximately 40,000 people had been displaced from the camps by the IDF operations and relocated to nearby villages or the adjacent cities of Jenin or Tulkarem.

In July, UNRWA said that mass displacement in the West Bank had hit levels not seen since the start of Israel’s military control of the Paleostinian territory nearly 60 years ago, claiming that "about 30,000 Paleostinians remain forcibly displaced."

During the same period, Israeli security forces issued demolition orders for about 1,400 homes in the northern West Bank, a UN front man said, describing the figures as "alarming."

TERROR SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Also on Sunday, coppers and Shin Bet agents nabbed three people, including a father and son, suspected of plotting attacks against Israeli civilians and security forces.

The suspects — all currently in jug — planned to stage a bombing attack at a checkpoint in northern Jerusalem, assassinate someone they believed to be an Israeli Air Force pilot, and shoot up a nightclub in central Israel, police said.

The third suspect, a resident of East Jerusalem in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of preparing explosives with the father and hiding them in his home. He also planned to attack security forces, officials allege.

A prosecutor’s declaration was filed against the three, and they will be charged with security offenses in the coming days, law enforcement announced.

ARAB ISRAELI MAN SAID KILLED BY IDF8
In another development in the West Bank, an Arab Israeli man from Nazareth was rubbed out by IDF troops in the city of Jericho on Saturday night, local Arab outlets reported on Sunday.

Abdallah Atiyat, 24, had been visiting his aunt in Jericho over the weekend when he was shot in the head amid festivities during an army raid in the city’s downtown area, according to the Arab Israeli radio station Radio Shams.

In an interview with the station, Atiyat’s mother, Amina, said that her son had been struggling to get back to Nazareth amid widespread closures due to the raid. He was reportedly killed while searching for a taxi to take him home.

He was taken at death's door to a hospital in Jericho, then shuttled to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, where he succumbed to his wounds.

Responding to a request for comment, the IDF told The Times of Israel that its forces had been operating in the Jericho region Saturday night, when Atiyat was killed.

During the army operation, IDF forces "identified a suspect approaching them who posed a threat. The forces fired at the suspect, a hit was identified and the incident is under investigation," said a spokesperson.

According to the Paleostinian Authority health ministry, more than 950 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority of them were button men killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops, or holy warriors carrying out attacks.

During the same period, 53 people, including Israeli security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another eight members of the security forces were killed in festivities with terror operatives in the West Bank.

IDF assessing how many troops needed for new Gaza offensive as Security Council convenes
[IsraelTimes] Hamas says 11 Palestinians died in past day as a result of starvation or IDF fire; Israel says close to 1,900 truckloads of aid distributed in Gaza this week

The IDF may take at least another week to gauge how many troops it will need for the government-ordered renewed offensive in Gazoo

City, military officials said Sunday, as envoys at an emergency UN Security Council session warned the planned operation would risk further calamity in the Strip.

The rare weekend meeting of the Security Council came as at least 11 Paleostinians died in Gaza as a result of starvation
…so Hamas claims, though it’s hard to see how they might starve, given how fat most Palestinians are and how much food has been coming in — something like 3000 calories/day against a USRDA of about 2200, if I recall correctly…
and Israeli strikes on Sunday, according to medics and the Strip’s Hamas-run health ministry.

Meanwhile, two rockets launched from Gaza City’s Shejaiya neighborhood hit open areas near Kibbutz Sa’ad in southern Israel Sunday afternoon, causing no injuries, the IDF said, adding that interception attempts were unsuccessful.

An hour later that Israeli Air Force jets bombed the rockets’ launching position, according to the military.

The cabinet overnight Thursday-Friday approved plans to take over Gaza City, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed Friday, in what appeared to be a watered-down version of his stated intent to conquer the entire Strip.
Or a first step. But the Times of Israel does not like Bibi any more then they like President Trump.
Netanyahu also said Sunday that Israel will not permanently occupy Gaza City under the plan, and will seek to delegate civilian authority to a third party.
As he has been saying since around 10/8/2023, so it’s not exactly a surprise.
The decision passed despite reported warnings by IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir that taking over Gaza City, where nearly half the Strip’s population currently resides, would endanger the hostages in the enclave and deepen the humanitarian crisis there.
The senior generals have been decidedly unenthusiastic about any of this, as far as I can tell, strongly preferring to return to the status quo ante despite the fact that previous measures led to 10/7.
Military officials said Sunday that it may take at least another week to complete the general outline of the plans for the new offensive.

Once the outline is ready, the IDF will know how many troops will be required and for how long, the officials said, adding that reservists will in any case need to be drafted — for either the offensive, or swapping out standing forces in other fronts, or both.

To date, the highest number of reservists ever called up remains at some 287,000 — the number drafted after the shock October 7, 2023, assault.

SENIOR UN OFFICIAL WARNS OF ‘ANOTHER CALAMITY IN GAZA’
The UN Security Council held an extraordinary session Sunday to discuss Israel’s Gaza City takeover plans.

“If these plans are implemented, they will likely trigger another calamity in Gaza, reverberating across the region and causing further forced displacement, killings, and destruction,” UN Assistant Secretary Miroslav Jenca told the UNSC.
Yeah, yeah. More dire warnings snipped as boring and repetitive.
LATEST DEATHS
Gaza medics said the IDF fire killed at least six Palestinians on Sunday, four of them in an airstrike in Khan Younis and two more people among crowds seeking aid in central Gaza. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the report.

Five more people, including two children, died of malnutrition and starvation in Gaza in the past 24 hours, bringing the number of malnutrition-related deaths during the war to 217, including 100 children, according to the Strip’s Hamas-run health ministry.
What high percentage of them had family member healthy and/or fat, while the dead had documented diseases or genetic conditions that affected their ability to metabolize nutrients?
Gaza medics also said Saturday that a 14-year-old boy was killed by an aid airdrop that fell on a tent encampment in central Gaza. A video, verified by Reuters, that went viral on social media, showed the parachuted aid box falling on the teenager who, among many other desperate Palestinians, was awaiting food.
Drama has a cost.
The Hamas media office said that the latest death raised the number of people killed by aid airdrops during the war to 23.
Then stop.
In addition to the danger they pose to civilians who can be hit from above, the airdrops have been criticized by aid groups because they can deliver only a small fraction of the aid that can enter via land.
Damned if you do, O Israel, and damned if you don’t.
Israel renewed the airdrops recently as part of a new policy to surge the flow of aid into Gaza amid mounting international anger over the hunger crisis there.
That’s “crisis” in scare quotes.
On Sunday, aircraft from the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Italy, airdropped 131 pallets of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, the IDF said. Each pallet contains around one ton of food.

Since July 26, when Israel adopted its new aid policy, over 1,100 humanitarian aid packages have been airdropped in the Gaza Strip by 12 countries, including Israel, according to the military. The packages the IDF airdropped were supplied by international aid groups.

Also on Sunday, the Defense Ministry body that coordinates government action in Gaza and the West Bank said close to 1,900 truckloads of aid “were collected and distributed” in the past week from the Gazan side of the Kerem Shalom and Zikim Crossings.

Meanwhile, more than 1,310 trucks of aid, mostly carrying food, crossed into Gaza this week, COGAT said, adding: “We will continue facilitating humanitarian aid into Gaza for the civilian population — not Hamas.”
Drown ‘em in food — exactly what infamous genocidaires would do.
The difference between the two numbers appeared to be the result of some aid that was previously transferred into Gaza having only been distributed this week.

The UN estimates that between 500 and 600 truckloads of aid a day are needed to meet the needs of Gaza’s more than two million inhabitants. Many deliveries are looted by armed Gazans.
Over 80% per the UN, wasn’t it? How can the UN willingly be complicit in robbing Gazan civilians like that? Shameful.
Israel has accused Hamas of hijacking aid deliveries, and also accused UN and other aid agencies of failing to pick up aid delivered into Gaza. The agencies, for their part, have said Israel failed to provide safe passage for the aid deliveries.

After soccer star killed in Gaza, IDF says it’s unaware of casualties in the area that day
[IsraelTimes] Fans and family honor ‘Palestinian Pele’ Suleiman al-Obeid, 41, who was reportedly killed last week while waiting in line for aid in southern Strip

Strip, saying it was unaware of any casualties in the area that day.

Suleiman al-Obeid, 41, known as the "Pele" of Paleostinian soccer, was killed Wednesday when Israeli forces "targeted people waiting for humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza Strip," the Paleostinian Football Association claimed in a statement.

In response, the military said that "from an initial and thorough examination, no casualties are known to have resulted from IDF fire in the distribution center areas in the Gaza Strip on August 6."

The statement did little to convince Obeid’s family, which said he had hoped to keep scoring goals until he was 50 but an Israeli tank shell dashed that dream a decade early.

"This is the most precious thing left behind by him," said Obeid’s widow, Doaa al-Obeid, clutching the blue-and-white number 10 shorts he wore for his Gaza club, al-Shati, one of the only mementos she has of her late husband, as she and her five children mourn the revered striker.

The family now live in a tent among the ruins of a neighborhood of Gaza City.

The death of Obeid, likened by fans to Brazilian great Pele for his skills and goalscoring, hit headlines after Liverpool forward Mohammed Salah criticized a tribute to Obeid by Europe’s governing body, UEFA, that did not mention the cause of death.

Thousands of Paleostinians congregate daily near food distribution points in Gaza, including four managed by the controversial US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which has been plagued by near-daily shooting incidents that have seen hundreds killed as they try to reach the GHF distribution centers.

’A GAZELLE’
Obeid kept playing throughout the hardship, his widow Doaa said.

"He used to go training every day and never stopped, not a single day. Even during the crisis of war, in the midst of rockets, shelling and mass killing, he would go play. He used to gather his friends and loved ones and go play with them," she said.

The Paleostinian Football Association says hundreds of athletes and sports officials are among those killed by Israel’s military campaign, with most sports facilities now destroyed.

Paleostinian soccer fans say they will focus not on Obeid’s death, but on his legacy.

"Children called him the Henry and Pele of Paleostine," said Hassan al-Balawi, a barber in Gaza City, in a comparison also with French great Thierry Henry.

"This player was a gazelle — when we stepped onto the pitch, we enjoyed watching him. All Paleostinian soccer fans enjoyed Captain Suleiman al-Obeid."

Obeid, who had played for the Paleostinian national team, was still playing for his club in Gaza when the war between Israel and Hamas

began with the terror group’s October 7, 2023, onslaught, which killed some 1,200 people and resulted in the kidnapping of 251 hostages back to Gaza.

Strip announced on Sunday that the corpse count from the ongoing Israeli aggression, which began on October 7, 2023, has risen to 61,430, with 153,213 maimed.

The ministry's daily statistical report indicated that hospitals in the Strip received 61 deaders and 363 maimed in the past 24 hours. The report also indicated that the total number of ''livelihood'' victims (aid victims) who arrived at hospitals rose to 1,778 deaders and more than 12,894 maimed, including 35 deaders and 304 maimed in the past 24 hours.

The suffering continues in the Gaza Strip, as the Ministry of Health confirmed that many victims are still under the rubble and in the streets and that ambulance and civil defense crews are unable to reach them.

Amid the worsening humanitarian situation, hospitals recorded five deaths, including two children, due to famine and malnutrition in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of deaths due to famine to 217, including 100 children.

According to the report, the corpse count and injuries since March 18, 2025, when the Israeli occupation violated the truce, has reached 9,921 deaders and 41,172 injured.

terrorist in charge of rocket launching.

Al Jazeera confirmed the 28-year-old’s death along with fellow journalist Mohammed Qreiqeh and videographers Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal and Moamen Aliwa in the strike, which it said targeted a tent near Shifa Hospital. An official at the hospital said two other people were also killed in the strike.

The incident came days after Israel approved a plan to fully conquer Gaza City and relocate southward around 1 million Paleostinians currently staying there.

Following Gazook media reports about Sharif’s death, the IDF confirmed carrying out a strike that killed him, saying he was a "terrorist operating under the guise of a journalist."

"The terrorist Anas al-Sharif served as a cell leader in the Hamas terror organization and advanced plans for rocket fire against Israeli civilians and IDF forces," the military said in a statement.

The IDF noted that in October, it published documents seized in Gaza that it said "unequivocally" confirmed Sharif’s "military affiliation with Hamas."

At the time, the military said Sharif headed a rocket-launching squad and was a member of an elite Nukhba Force company in Hamas’s East Jabalia Battalion.

"These documents serve as proof of the terrorist’s integration into the Qatari Al Jazeera media network," the IDF said.

Al Jazeera has fiercely denied
No, no! Certainly not!
Israel’s allegations and accused it of systematically targeting Al Jazeera employees in the Gaza Strip.

In Sunday’s strike, the military said it took steps to mitigate civilian harm, including "the use of precision munitions, aerial surveillance and additional intelligence information."

Minutes before being killed, Sharif documented Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s in Gaza City and posted footage to social media.

"Relentless bombing... For two hours, the Israeli aggression on Gaza City has intensified," he wrote on X.

And shortly after his death, his X account, which has more than 500,000 followers, published a message he had left to be posted in the event of his death that read, "...I never hesitated to convey the truth as it is, without distortion or misrepresentation, hoping that God would witness those who remained silent."

A press freedom group and a UN expert previously warned that Al Sharif’s life was in danger due to his reporting from Gaza. UN Special Rapporteur Irene Khan claimed last month that Israel’s allegations against him were unsubstantiated.

In a statement, the Committee to Protect Journalists, which in July urged the international community to protect Al Sharif, said Israel had failed to provide any evidence to back up its allegations against him.

"Israel’s pattern of labeling journalists as Death Eaters without providing credible evidence raises serious questions about its intent and respect for press freedom," said Sara Qudah, CPJ’s director for the Middle East and North Africa.

Calling Al Sharif "one of Gaza’s bravest journalists," Al Jazeera said the attack "is a desperate attempt to silence voices in anticipation of the occupation of Gaza."

"Anas Al Sharif and his colleagues were among the last remaining voices in Gaza conveying the tragic reality to the world," Al Jazeera said.

Paleostinian terror group Hamas, which runs Gaza, said the killing may signal the start of an Israeli offensive. "The liquidation of journalists and the intimidation of those who remain paves the way for a major crime that the occupation is planning to commit in Gaza City," said Hamas, which itself regularly faces accusations of persecuting adversarial journalists.

The Paleostinian Journalists’ Syndicate condemned what it described as a "bloody crime" of liquidation.

Pro-Israel advocates hailed the killing of Sharif and posted photos he took with since-slain Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, as well as a screenshot of a Telegram message he posted on October 7, 2023, hailing the murders and kidnappings during the mass Hamas onslaught that day.

The Hamas-run Gaza government media office said 237 journalists have been killed since the war started. The Committee to Protect Journalists said at least 186 journalists have been killed in the Gaza conflict.
And how many of them are also the Hamas payroll?

Balochi terrorists said to kill police officer in Iran’s southeast
[IsraelTimes] Jihadists killed one policeman in Iran’s restive southeastern province of Sistan-Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
, Iranian media reports, adding that three assailants also died.

"A policeman from Saravan was killed while turbans were trying to enter the cop shoppe" in that area of Sistan-Balochistan, the Tasnim news agency says.

The attackers were members of the Sunni jihadist group Jaish al-Adl ("Army of Justice" in Arabic) based in Pakistain and active in Iran’s southeast, the agency says.

"Three bad boyz were potted and two were arrested," Tasnim adds.

Sistan-Balochistan, which shares a long border with Pakistain and Afghanistan, has been the site of frequent festivities between security forces and hard boyz or smugglers. The province hosts a significant population from the Baloch ethnic minority, which practices Sunni Islam in Shiite-majority Iran.

Video shows Syrian forces executing medical worker inside Al-Suweida Hospital
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Activists on social media posted a video showing a horrific execution carried out against a medical worker inside al-Suweida’s National Hospital.
Was he Druze?
The footage shows members of the Ministries of Defense and Interior dragging the young man and then physically assaulting him before shooting him directly.

The video also shows dozens of individuals wearing hospital work uniforms kneeling during the execution, reflecting a state of tension and terror that prevailed in the site. Following the execution, the victim’s body was dragged away to an unknown place.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, this incident is only one example of the violations committed against civilians in al-Suwaida, where SOHR has documented the execution of 401 individuals.

It pointed to an earlier incident on the 7th of this month, in which a man, his son, and his wife were executed, while women from the same family were kidnapped and later freed under public pressure.
If I recall correctly, they were Druze.
SOHR called for the formation of an independent committee including representatives from all concerned parties to follow up the issue of the missing people, disclose their fate and ensure accountability for those involved in these serious violations.
