Silas Kruger Falsely Linked to CDC Shooting at Emory Point, Atlanta Police Yet to Confirm Suspect

[CedarNews] Social media posts naming Emory University student Silas Kruger as the CDC shooter are false, his mother confirms.

Several social media posts have falsely linked Silas Kruger to Friday’s shooting at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) building in Atlanta, Georgia. However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
Atlanta police have not confirmed the suspect’s identity, and Kruger’s mother says the claims are untrue.

Kruger, an Emory University student, was named online as the alleged shooter who shot up the CDC facility on Clifton Street at Emory Point. His mother told the Hindustan Times via email that the accusations are baseless.

"We have people that have been harassing my son (Silas Kruger) online, but we live in Canada. They have been spreading false information about him online for years," she wrote.

The individual known as Silas Kruger is the son of a popular contractor with more than 2.9 million Instagram followers under the username @krugerconstruction. Several photos of Kruger appear on the account, but there is no evidence connecting him to the shooting.

POLICE HAVE NOT CONFIRMED CDC SHOOTING SUSPECT
Atlanta police have not officially named the suspect involved in the CDC shooting at Emory Point. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have urged the public not to rely on unverified information circulating on social media.

CNN liveblogged events here. As of 11:20 p.m. EDT the shooter was not named. Their summary:
HERE'S WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR ABOUT THE GEORGIA SHOOTING THAT KILLED A POLICE OFFICER

A police officer has died after a gunman opened fire near Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention today in Georgia.

Here’s what we know so far from law enforcement and other officials:

The victim:

  • The name of the police officer killed in today’s shooting has not been released.

  • He leaves behind a pregnant wife and two children.

  • Police cannot confirm why the police officer involved in the shooting incident was present on site.

The shooter:

  • There was one single alleged shooter involved in this event, who is now dead.

  • The shooter had multiple guns – two hand guns, one rifle and one shotgun – and was wearing what a law enforcement official on the scene described as looking like a surgical mask.

  • According to Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, the alleged shooter “is a known person that may have some interest in certain things that I can’t reiterate right now with any confidence until the investigation is fully conducted.”

  • The alleged shooter’s father called law enforcement before the shooting to report he believed his son was suicidal. It was not immediately clear how much time had elapsed between the call and the shooting.

Britain
UK charges three for backing banned Palestine Action group
[IsraelTimes] British police say they charged three people in England and Wales with supporting activist group Paleostine Action after it was banned under anti-terrorism laws.

Two women and a man were charged under Britannia’s Terrorism Act of 2000 following their arrest at a protest in central London on July 5, the capital’s Metropolitan Police force says. They are the first to be charged in England and Wales since the ban took effect.

A spokesperson for the force said there had already been seven charges in Scotland, which has a separate legal system.

The announcement comes ahead of a planned protest in support of the group outside the UK parliament on Saturday, with organizers saying more than 500 people are expected to attend.

"I would strongly advise anyone planning to come to London this weekend to show support for Paleostine Action to think about the potential criminal consequences of their actions," Dominic Murphy, head of the Met’s counter terror department, says.

Jeremy Shippam and Judit Murray, both 71, and Fiona Maclean, 53, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on September 16, the Met says.

Murphy says more people arrested at the July 5 demonstration face charges.

Being a member or supporting the group is a criminal offense punishable by up to 14 years in prison.

The group that committed the terrorist attack in Crocus was financed by criminals
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The terrorist group Vilayat Khorasan
…ISIS in the Indian subcontinent (ISIS-K), effectively Afghanistan and beyond….
(a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation; part of the terrorist organization ISIS banned in the Russian Federation) that committed the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall in the Moscow region was financed through criminal activity.
Like all jihadi orgs…
This follows from the materials of the criminal case.

“The terrorist organization Vilayat Khorasan had criminally obtained funds at its disposal, which were intended and used to support the activities of the terrorist organization, as well as directly to commit crimes,” TASS quoted an excerpt from them.

These funds were spent on renting apartments and houses, purchasing weapons and ammunition, explosives and components for improvised explosive devices, vehicles, camouflage and communication equipment, food, airline tickets, and paying compensation to members of the terrorist group.

These funds were also used for other expenses related to the activities of the said terrorist organization.

Earlier, on August 8, it became known that the accomplices of the terrorist attack in Crocus were preparing for another similar attack. For this purpose, the criminals, on the instructions of the organizers of the terrorist group, made an explosive device, which they did not have time to detonate.

The perpetrators of the terrorist attack in Crocus, Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev, Shamsiddin Fariduni and Muhammadsobir Faizov (individuals included in the list of terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation) fully admitted their guilt. At the same time, the accomplices in the case of the terrorist attack in the concert hall refused to fully admit their guilt. And Isroil, Dilovar, Aminchon Islomov and Alisher Kasimov (individuals included in the list of terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation) declared their innocence.

IDF chief: Army will carry out Gaza City occupation plan in ‘best possible way’
[IsraelTimes] At least 17 said dead as a result of bombing, starvation or being hit by airdropped aid across Strip; Egypt, Qatar working on comprehensive truce-hostage deal, officials say

The IDF chief on Friday vowed to carry out "in the best possible way" Israel’s decision to conquer Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...

-run health ministry reported at least 17 killed in the past day by Israeli bombing, starvation and being hit by airdropped aid packages.

Meanwhile,
...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck and Manuel's rivalry was entering a new and more dangerous phase...
Arab mediators were said to be working on a deal to release all 50 remaining hostages from Gaza in one fell swoop in exchange for an end to the war and full Israeli withdrawal from the Strip after talks for a partial deal hit an impasse last month.

The security cabinet earlier Friday voted to approve a proposal from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to conquer Gaza City. The decision sparked fierce criticism at home and abroad over concerns that it would deepen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and endanger the hostages.

The plan has also faced criticism from the government’s far-right, which says it does not go far enough.

Meanwhile,
...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck and Manuel's rivalry was entering a new and more dangerous phase...
in Gaza on Friday, the Strip’s Hamas-run health ministry said four people, including children, had died as a result of starvation over the past 24 hours, bringing the toll of starvation-related deaths in the war to 201. The figure could not immediately be verified.

Khan Younis’s Nasser Hospital reported that one child was also killed by an airdropped aid package in Khan Younis. The circumstances were not immediately clear.

Media outlets in Gaza reported Friday that six people, most of them children, were maimed when an aid package was airdropped into Gaza City and landed on a balcony, which collapsed onto the crowd beneath it.

Three people were also reportedly killed and several others injured by IDF gunfire while waiting for aid distribution in the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza.

It was unclear if the distribution site in question belonged to the US- and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, near whose sites there have been near-daily reports of aid seekers killed by Israel.

WAFA, the Paleostinian Authority’s official news agency, also reported five people killed in an Israeli bombing of Deir al-Balah, in Gaza’s center, and cited medical sources in the Hamas-run Strip as saying two people each were killed in further bombings in Khan Younis and Gaza City.

The IDF did not immediately comment on any of the reported bombings or fatal airdrops of aid.

Meeting with division heads and top generals at the Southern Command on Friday morning, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, who warned the cabinet against the expanded fighting, said, "We will continue to lead from the national responsibility placed on the IDF and its commanders," according to comments provided by the military.

"We are responsible for the army’s readiness, the security of the state and its citizens, the return of the hostages, and the defeat of Hamas, and so we shall do," said Zamir, according to an IDF statement. "My responsibility is to provide you and the soldiers in particular with as much certainty as possible, to create pauses and a proper endurance. It is in light of this responsibility that we operate."

Zamir said the IDF is "working on the new plan. We will deepen the planning, prepare at the highest level in all its aspects, and as always, we will carry out the mission in the best possible way."

Zamir also stressed in the meeting that "as the war develops, the IDF will act to safeguard the lives of the hostages, allow the forces to refresh in order to strengthen endurance, and operate according to the values and spirit of the IDF."

"The chief of staff noted that in the coming days the IDF will deepen operational planning with professionalism... with the aim of creating conditions for the return of the hostages and the collapse of the Hamas regime," the military added.

The comments came as troops in Gaza continued razing what the army said was terror infrastructure and killing button men, and as six European and Arab nations airdropped packages of humanitarian supplies into the Strip as part of Israel’s recently adopted aid policy, according to the military.

The IDF Artillery Corps’ elite Sky Riders Unit, together with troops of the 401st Armored Brigade, destroyed a primed rocket launcher in northern Gaza on Thursday, after it was used to fire a rocket at Nir Am, the military said, adding that the launcher had been primed to fire several more rockets at Israel before it was destroyed.

Elsewhere in Gaza, the IDF said troops of the 36th Division are continuing to operate in Khan Younis, in the south of the enclave, where they "destroyed underground infrastructure and eliminated terror cells that posed a threat to the forces."

Additional forces in southern Gaza located and destroyed several tunnel shafts in the past 24 hours, the IDF added.

At the same time, it said the 282nd Artillery Regiment destroyed a weapons depot, and the 990th Reserve Artillery Regiment hit buildings that posed a threat to troops in the Shejaiya and Zeitoun neighborhoods of Gaza City.

The military also said Friday that it confirmed having killed the deputy commander of Hamas’s Beit Hanoun Battalion during operations in the town in the northern Gaza Strip over the past month.

The deputy commander, Murad Abu Jarad, served as the de facto commander of the Beit Hanoun Battalion during most of 2024, the military said, adding that he was involved in numerous attacks on troops and that he had participated in the Hamas onslaught of October 7, 2023, which sparked the war in Gaza.

In a separate operation, the military said it killed the head of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
’s anti-tank missile unit in the terror group’s Gaza City brigade, Mohammed Dardawasi, who also participated in the October 7 onslaught. In another strike, the IDF said it killed several Hamas and Islamic Jihad operatives who were involved in rocket fire and sniper attacks.

In addition to the fighting, aircraft from the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Germany, Belgium, La Belle France, and — for the first time — the Netherlands airdropped 72 pallets of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip today, the IDF said. Each pallet contains around one ton of food.

Since July 26, when Israel adopted a new policy to let more aid into the Strip, over 1,000 humanitarian aid packages have been airdropped in the Gaza Strip by 10 countries, including Israel, according to the military. The packages the IDF airdropped were supplied by international aid groups.

Israel re-adopted the policy amid mounting international criticism over the hunger crisis in Gaza. But airdrops are only able to deliver a small fraction of what can come into Gaza by land. They also pose safety risks for the civilians who can be hit by the packages from above.

Israel has denied using starvation as a weapon of war in Gaza and blamed the crisis on Hamas diverting aid and the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
’ failure to properly distribute assistance. The UN has retorted that the war’s conditions and Israeli restrictions have made upholding a functioning humanitarian operation all but impossible.

are working on a new framework which would include the release of all hostages — dead and alive — in one go in return for an end of the war in Gaza and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the strip, according to two Arab officials speaking to The News Agency that Dare Not be Named anonymously due to the sensitivity of the discussions.

One is involved directly in the deliberations, and the second was briefed on the efforts.

The efforts have the backing of major Arab Gulf monarchies, the officials said, as they are concerned about further regional destabilization if Israel’s government proceeds with a full reoccupation of Gaza, two decades after its unilateral withdrawal from the Strip.

The yet-to-be finalized framework aims to address the contentious issue of what to do with Hamas’s weapons, with Israel seeking full disarmament and Hamas refusing. The official directly involved in the efforts said discussions were underway about "freezing arms," which may involve Hamas retaining but not using its weapons. The official also called for the group to relinquish power in the strip.

A Paleostinian-Arab committee would run Gaza and oversee the reconstruction efforts until the establishment of a Paleostinian administration with a new police force, trained by two US allies in the Middle East, to take over the strip, said the source. It was unclear what role the Western-backed Paleostinian Authority would play. The Israeli cabinet decision on Friday specifically ruled out a role for the PA in Gaza’s post-war governance.

The second official said a powerful Gulf country is supporting the Egyptian-Qatari efforts.

A senior Hamas official, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
because he wasn’t authorized to brief the media, said the group’s leadership is aware of the Arab mediators’ efforts to revive the ceasefire talks, but has yet to receive details.

AP reached out to the governments in Qatar, Egypt and Israel for comment but did not hear back.

UNIFIL says found tunnels containing weapons in south Lebanon
[NAHARNET] UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti said on Thursday that peacekeepers "discovered a vast network of fortified tunnels in the vicinity of Tayr Harfa, Zibqin, and Naqura" in south Lebanon, including "several bunkers, artillery pieces, multiple rocket launchers, hundreds of shells and rockets, anti-tank mines, and other explosive devices."

Prime Minister Salam said in June that the Lebanese Army had dismantled more than 500 Hezbollah military positions and weapons depots in the south.

Israeli strike that killed 6 near al-Masnaa targeted senior PFLP official

killed six people, including a senior member of a Paleostinian group and his bodyguard as they were on their way to Syria, news reports and his group said Friday.

The Thursday afternoon airstrike near the Lebanese border crossing of Masnaa killed Mohammed Wishah, a member of the central committee of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine, the group said in a statement.

An Israeli army statement described Wishah as ''the head of the PFLP in Syria,'' saying he was responsible for ''establishing cooperation with other Paleostinian — organizations, working to strengthen cooperation with the Shiite axis, and most recently, carrying out military activities against Israeli targets.''

Senior PFLP official Marwan Abdel-Al mourned in a post on social media the death of Wishah and his bodyguard, Mufid Hussein. "We have lost two of the most loyal comrades who gave their precious souls to freedom," Abdel-Al wrote.

Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said the airstrike on east Lebanon killed six people and maimed 10, without identifying the victims.

IDF says Friday drone attack in south kills Hezbollah intelligence commander

Mohammed Wishah, a Syrian senior terror operative in the PFLP, served as the head of the group’s Military-Security Department in Syria. He assumed the role after his predecessor, Shantal al-Al, was killed in a strike in Beirut in September 2024.

Three PFLP members were killed in an airstrike on a Beirut apartment last September.

Separately, an IDF drone struck a vehicle near the towns of Ansariyeh and Aadloun, located between Tyre and Sidon in southern Lebanon, killing a senior Hezbollah intelligence commander, the military said.

Lebanese media said that the strike killed a citizen journalist, Mohammed Shehadeh, though Hezbollah claimed him as one of its members.

The IDF said that Shehadeh was chief of intelligence in Hezbollah’s elite Radwan force, and his activities were a violation of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.

Iran says it executed nuclear scientist for passing secrets to Mossad
[IsraelTimes] Iranian state broadcaster IRIB says a man executed yesterday for allegedly giving information on Iran’s nuclear program to the Mosssd

spy agency, was himself a nuclear scientist.

"Key facilities were Fordo and Natanz, for which I sent information. I told them I knew this and that about Fordo, they told me to send everything," Rouzbeh Vadi says in what IRIB describes as a confession video it airs.

"The entry and exit of nuclear material into the Uranium Conversion Facility and Fuel Manufacturing Plant were very important to them," says Vadi, who held a PhD in nuclear engineering from Amir Kabir University of Technology.

A voiceover in the video says that Vadi met five times with Mossad agents while in Vienna and was asked to open a cryptocurrency account to receive payment for his services. The defendant says in the video that Mossad had promised him a foreign passport should he complete a long-term collaboration.

IRIB also shares a screenshot of an academic paper presented at an Iranian nuclear conference in 2012 that was written by Vadi as well as Ahmad Zolfaqar and Abdolhamid Minouchehr — two nuclear scientists killed in June by Israel.

In the document, Vadi is introduced as a nuclear researcher at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, the country’s top nuclear body.
