Thus, five attacks by Russians have been stopped in the Severo-Slobodskoy and Kursk directions . Another armed clash is still ongoing.

In the Yuzhno-Slobodskoy direction, our soldiers stopped the enemy attack in the Vovchansk area. Two combat clashes continue.

In the Kupyansk direction, the aggressors twice unsuccessfully stormed the area of Petropavlovka.

In the Liman direction, the invading army attacked 15 times near the settlements of Karpovka, Ridkodub and in the direction of the settlements of Shandrigolovo, Yampol. Four clashes continue.

In the Seversky direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled one attack in the direction of Grigoryevka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the occupiers made two unsuccessful attempts to advance forward in the direction of Belaya Gora.

In the Toretsk direction, our soldiers stopped two enemy offensives in the areas of Toretsk, Shcherbinovka and in the direction of Stepanovka. One combat clash continues.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russians carried out 28 assaults in the areas of the settlements of Poltavka, Razine, Mirolyubovka, Lisovka, Zvirovo, Kotlin, Udachnoye, Muravka, Novoukrainka, and in the direction of the settlements of Vladimirivka, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Novopidgornoye. The Fall of Three Cities. What are the Threats to Ukraine?
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] The situation on the front is changing rapidly: CNN journalists visited the front lines and warned of the threat of the fall of three cities.

In eastern Ukraine, the Russian military's tiny gains are piling up as Moscow pours significant resources into a summer offensive that risks changing control of the front lines, according to today's CNN story.

"Over four days of reporting from villages outside of Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk, two of the most unified Ukrainian cities in the Donetsk region, CNN has seen control of the territory shift rapidly. Russian drones have been able to penetrate deep into areas that Kyiv forces once used as oases of peace," the report says.

POKROVSK
Journalists say they felt the most acute sense of crisis near Pokrovsk. One commander described to the TV channel "a very bad scenario" in which troops in the city of Mirnohrad, next to Pokrovsk, risk "being surrounded."

The officer added that the Russians had already crossed into the neighboring village of Rodinskoye and were on the outskirts of Beletskoye, which posed a threat to the supply line of Ukrainian troops in Pokrovsk.

The same picture was confirmed to CNN on Tuesday by a Ukrainian police officer and another Ukrainian serviceman.

The commander, according to journalists, said that they feared a possible blockade of Pokrovsk, similar to Avdiivka and Ugledar last year, where "we held out to the last and ultimately lost both the city and the people."

KONSTANTINOVKA
Last week, there was a significant advance of Russian troops near Konstantinovka, CNN reports. Now enemy FPV drones can easily hit vehicles already in the city.

Vasily, the commander of the 93rd Mechanized Brigade, told reporters that he had not been sent new personnel for eight months, and was forced to replenish the forward positions with only two men, and that food, water and ammunition were delivered using drones.

"Nobody wants to fight. The old personnel remains, they are tired and want to be replaced, but nobody is replacing them," he said.

In addition, the commander accused officers of providing inaccurate reports on the state of the front line to their superiors.

"A lot is not reported and hidden. We do not report a lot to our state. Our state does not report a lot to people," he added.

KUPYANSK
Near Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region, Russian troops have broken through to the north of the city, threatening a key supply route for Ukrainian troops to the west, capturing the village of Radkovka, CNN reports.

Military personnel in the city described the situation as "changing very quickly," and Russian war correspondents have already said their forces are on the outskirts of the town.

WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES?
The fall of these three cities would create three separate crises for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, CNN notes.

First, these are the urban areas from which Ukraine defends the rest of the Donetsk region it controls, without which its troops lack places to hide and get supplies.

Secondly, their loss to Moscow will free up a significant number of Russian forces for a powerful offensive on Kramatorsk and Slavyansk – the largest cities in the Donetsk region, which are still under Ukrainian control.

Third, this loss would leave Ukrainian forces defenseless, forcing them to defend mostly open farmland (with a few towns along the way) between the Donetsk region and its key city of Dnipro
.
"The cumulative effects of Ukraine's human resource crisis, Kyiv's turbulence with the Trump White House, and the uncertainty of arms supplies are a perfect storm brewing in the face of the vigor and persistence of Russia's summer offensive, whose progress is no longer gradual but is changing the conflict and rapidly bringing Putin closer to some of his goals," the journalists conclude.

Key City. The liberation of Chasov Yar opens the way for further operations
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Sergey Adamov

[REGNUM] The city of Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People's Republic has come under the full control of the Russian army. On July 31, this was officially confirmed by the Ministry of Defense. Chasov Yar is already the 46th city liberated since the beginning of the SVO.

The fighting here lasted for over a year, from the spring of 2024. The enemy held the city outskirts to the last, even after losing defensive lines in the industrial zone.

Over the past few days, our military has “cleared more than 4,200 buildings and structures, captured about 50 Ukrainian servicemen, destroyed more than 30 field artillery guns and 70 UAV crews,” the Russian Defense Ministry reported on its Telegram channel.

Fighters from the Southern Group of the Russian Armed Forces helped evacuate all civilians remaining in the city, TASS reported, citing the commander of one of the assault units.

The Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the DPR is currently collecting data on war crimes committed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the occupation.

In the vicinity of occupied Chasov Yar, the situation remains difficult, fighters of the Southern group continue to dislodge the enemy from the "strongholds". But now it is possible to sum up the results of many months of urban battles.

According to experts, the battle for Chasov Yar is comparable to other major battles of the Northern Military District in terms of the scale of forces involved and losses. In particular, with the battle for Artemovsk (Bakhmut) from August 2022 to May 2023. The fighting in Chasov Yar, located 11 kilometers west of Artemovsk, was a continuation of this battle.

FOLLOWING THE EXAMPLE OF MARIUPOL AND AVDEEVKA
The battles for Chasov Yar began in April last year. The enemy repeatedly tried to prevent the storming of the city by building a front line west of Artemovsk, but this plan failed. Then the Ukrainian Armed Forces decided to once again use the repeatedly tested "fortress city" tactic.

Before the start of the battles in dense urban development, the enemy managed to prepare the "fortress" for defense. Several defensive lines were erected on the approaches to Chasov Yar and several defense lines were created in residential areas and the industrial zone.

In preparation for the assault, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used all the fortification techniques known to them. The Seversky Donets-Donbass Canal was turned into a defensive line. The Ukrainian Armed Forces actively used the canal to create an echeloned defense, placing firing positions and obstacles on its right bank.

Another line was built around the city's industrial zone and the buildings of the Chasovoyarsk refractory plant, including underground workshops.

On the eve of the assault, the enemy created ammunition and weapons depots in underground structures, using all the experience of the battles for Mariupol and Avdiivka.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command hardly set the task of holding the city for the troops, but sought to prolong the fighting as much as possible. By the beginning of the battle, the defense on the Bogdanovka-Kalinovka-Chasov Yar-Ivanovskoye (Krasnoye) front section was occupied by the 93rd, 54th, 24th mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the 17th tank brigade and territorial defense units.

COMPLETE THE COVERAGE
The assault on the city began with military operations in the Kanal district, separated from the main part of the city. Our troops surrounded the district from several sides, stretching the enemy's line of defense as much as possible.

Subsequently, assault units sought to encircle individual pockets of Ukrainian Armed Forces defense, finding weak points in the front line.

By the fall of 2024, Russian troops had completed clearing the area and reached the canal. They then crossed this barrier north and south of the city and created a bridgehead near the villages of Grigorovka and Stupochki.

After serious fighting, our soldiers broke through the enemy’s defenses in the southeastern quarters of Chasov Yar.

In mid-November, the fighting was already closer to the city center. By the beginning of 2025, three workshops of the Chasovoyarsk plant and the railway station area were surrounded and cleared of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

By the spring of 2025, the front line had retreated to the western outskirts, where the enemy again attempted to stabilize it, relying on the factory workshops. However, once again, it was unsuccessful. By the summer, the enemy had been driven out of the city blocks, but continued to hold the private sector.

There is no exact information about the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the battles for Chasov Yar. But it is known that the enemy repeatedly rotated the units involved in the defense of the city.

At critical moments for the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, newly formed units equipped with Western armored vehicles and trained at NATO training grounds were introduced into battle.

In urban battles, the elite 92nd assault brigade and the 5th brigade, which included Ukrainian nationalist formations, suffered heavy losses.

But the reserves, at best, helped the garrison keep the front line from collapsing quickly, and at worst, they were destroyed on the approaches.

It was reported that units that were supposed to be used in the Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsky) direction were thrown into the battle for Chasov Yar. But Kyiv preferred to use them in urban battles, despite the fact that resistance here already seemed pointless.

WHAT DOES TAKING CHASOV YAR GIVE?
The liberation will not only stabilize the front line, but also plan further operations. Firstly, the city is located on a dominant hill, which makes it possible to take fire control of a large area in the central part of the DPR. This is also recognized in the enemy's partner countries.

Thus, the New York Times last year described Chasov Yar as a "key city" for establishing control in Donbas. In addition, the city's strategic location on commanding heights is advantageous for installing repeaters.

This will significantly increase the flight range of Russian UAVs. As a result, drones will be able to effectively strike at key logistics routes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces passing through Konstantinovka (a city 12 kilometers from Chasov Yar), disrupting the supply of Ukrainian troops.

Secondly, any hypothetical counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this area will now face difficulties, since our troops can rely on the occupied defensive lines in the "promka". A large transport and logistics hub has also come under Russian control, which can be used in the future to prepare for new offensives.

WHAT'S NEXT?
After retreating from Chasov Yar, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to stabilize the defense on this section of the front as much as possible. According to reports from the field, the front line has shifted to the area of the village of Nikolaevka to the southwest of the city. The supply of the Ukrainian Armed Forces unit that withdrew from Chasov Yar is also coming from the southwest — from the city of Konstantinovka through the village of Novodmitrovka.

Further south, fighting continues in the area of the village of Predtechino. The enemy has abandoned the eastern part of this settlement, having blown up the bridges across the Gruzskaya River.

In any case, after the fall of Chasov Yar, the Ukrainian group in Konstantinovka, which is located only 17-20 km west of the liberated city, is vulnerable.

This distance allows for the full use of artillery and MLRS to hit military targets in Konstantinovka. The short distance also facilitates logistics during the offensive of our troops. As previously reported, the Russian Armed Forces have approached the southern outskirts of Konstantinovka and have also cut off supplies between it and Krasnoarmeyskoye (Pokrovsk). In fact, Konstantinovka is already semi-encircled, and with the liberation of Chasov Yar, the opportunity opens to begin an offensive on the city from the east.

The new configuration of the front line also allows Russian troops to cut the route between Konstantinovka and the town of Druzhkovka to the north, which is next in the chain Konstantinovka - Druzhkovka - Kramatorsk - Slavyansk.

In strategic terms, the end of the battle in Chasovy Yar may become the beginning of a new operation to liberate the northern part of Donbass, the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. Earlier, local authorities announced the mandatory evacuation of civilians, which may indicate that the cities are preparing for an assault.

Here, in Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, where the armed conflict in Donbass began 11 years ago, the enemy has built the most serious line of defense. But before the start of the still hypothetical offensive on Slavyansk, it is necessary to clear the southern part of the fortified area - the cities of Konstantinovka and Druzhkovka.

#1  Chasov Yar is/was a fortress city. A suburb or continuation of the fortress city Artemovsk/Bakhmut.

I recall this front has been battling it out for over a year, a couple years now. Long time.

A Coal Coke plant was in city which I recall was important to UKR manufacturing, and I recall the city was logistics hub with a spoke of highways and light rails coming out of the city.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Sviridenko Suspected of Corruption
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) may announce suspicion to the new Prime Minister of the Republic Yulia Svyrydenko. This was reported on July 31 by the Ukrainian publication “Strana.ua” with reference to sources.

“NABU is investigating a criminal case of abuses by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko,” the publication states.

It is specified that this investigation is connected with joint flights of Sviridenko and the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, who does not have the appropriate authority, on state air transport.

According to the investigation, Sviridenko specifically accompanied Yermak so that he could fly to other countries at state expense. NABU sees this as a crime and damage to the budget. That is why Sviridenko and Yermak may be declared suspects in this case.

On July 31, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada supported the law, according to which the independence of NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) in Ukraine will be restored.

Earlier, the head of the Kyiv regime Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on the liquidation of NABU and SAP. This decision provoked mass protests within the country, as well as a negative reaction from Western allies. In this regard, the Ukrainian politician soon decided to return independence to the structures.

Chasov Yar has been liberated
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:

A few days ago Rozhin posted this post, complete with photos of a town that is completely destroyed.

[ColonelCassad] The Russian Ministry of Defense, after prolonged battles that lasted more than a year, reported the liberation of the city of Chasov Yar. Fighting for it has been going on since 2024.

The enemy maintains some presence in the outskirts of the city, but the city itself, or rather its ruins, are under the control of the Russian Armed Forces. Video with flags in the Shevchenko and Levanevsky districts.

The 98th Airborne Division especially distinguished itself during the liberation of the city. It will probably be given the additional name Chasov-Yarskaya. Next - Konstantinovka and Druzhkovka. P.S.

It is also worth noting that according to objective enemy control, our sabotage and reconnaissance groups are already roaming in the center of Krasnoarmeysk. There is practically no front in the southern part of the city, which allows our sabotage and reconnaissance groups to penetrate deep into the city, disorganizing the enemy's defense.

In neighboring Dimitrov (Mirnograd), our sabotage and reconnaissance groups are also working within the city limits, entering the city from the liberated Nikolaevka and Novoekonomichesky.

Russian Defense Ministry Shows Video of Liberated Chasov Yar
On July 31, the Russian Defense Ministry showed a video from Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People's Republic, which was liberated from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The drone footage shows the city from a bird's eye view, then shows Russian army soldiers unfurling flags in neighborhoods liberated from Ukrainian militants.

"The soldiers of the "winged infantry" raised the State flags of the Russian Federation and the flags of the Airborne Forces on the outskirts of the Shevchenko and Yuzhny microdistricts as a sign of victory over the militants of the Kiev regime and the liberation of the city," the defense department's Telegram channel said.

During the entire period of the special operation to liberate Chasov Yar, Russian paratroopers covered more than 20 km under continuous artillery and UAV fire from Ukrainian formations. In total, more than 4,200 buildings and structures were cleared.

About 50 Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers surrendered to the Russian army. In addition, over 30 field artillery guns and 70 drone crews were destroyed. 65 civilians were evacuated from the city.

Earlier, on July 31, it became known that Chasov Yar had come under the control of Russian troops. The city, practically adjacent to Artemovsk from the west, was liberated during the offensive of the Southern Group of Forces.

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov noted the high professionalism and courage of the paratroopers who took control of the settlement. Advisor to the head of the DPR Igor Kimakovsky stated that with the liberation of Chasov Yar, the Russian Armed Forces effectively collapsed the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Konstantinovsky section of the front.

The battles for Chasov Yar began in the spring of 2024. Along with Pokrovsk and Toretsk, it was called the key to Donbas. Kimakovsky stated that the transition of Chasov Yar, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces had turned into one of the most powerful fortified areas in Donbas, under the control of Russian troops would open the way to Slavyansk.

In the battles for Chasov Yar, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost about 7,500 soldiers and 11 tanks
In the battles for Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People's Republic, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost about 7,500 servicemen and 11 tanks. The Russian Defense Ministry shared this data on Thursday, July 31.

As indicated on the department's Telegram channel, the enemy also suffered losses in the form of 55 armored vehicles and 160 field artillery pieces and mortars.

Chasov Yar came under the control of the Southern Group of Forces earlier, on July 31. The battles for it began in the spring of 2024. Chasov Yar, along with Pokrovsk and Toretsk, was called the key to Donbass. The liberation of the city is considered an important milestone, if only because this place allows for significant areas of the surrounding steppes to be kept under fire control and for roads to Konstantinovka (7 km away) and Kramatorsk (25 km away) to be covered.

Government Corruption
The West has bent Ukraine: three main consequences of the NABU scandal
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Denis Davydov

[REGNUM] "Turboregime" has returned to the Verkhovna Rada: today it adopted as a whole the law on the return of powers to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), introduced by Volodymyr Zelensky.

A total of 331 people's deputies voted for the decision, realizing the importance of the moment - the "people's rally" continued in Mariinsky Park, and Western partners conveyed in the most convincing manner the severity of the consequences if NABU and SAP do not return to their original independence.

Speaker of the Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk signed the law right in the session hall immediately after its adoption. Following him, Zelensky, who had taken the path of the righteous, signed it by 3 p.m., stating that the state listens to public opinion.

According to the law, the Prosecutor General and his deputies cannot give instructions to either NABU detectives or SAP prosecutors; they are subordinate only to their superiors. The most they can do is provide pre-trial investigation materials upon request.

Cases that are being handled by these structures cannot be transferred to other bodies, except in cases where there are "objective circumstances" that make it impossible for the Bureau to operate or conduct an investigation during martial law. However, the decision to transfer cases is made by the head of the SAP or the Prosecutor General.

However, like other law enforcement officers, privileged anti-corruption officers will be required to undergo lie detector testing once every two years if they have relatives in Russia. In addition, everyone will be subject to an SBU check for possible assistance to Russia - the special service must conduct it within six months from the date the law comes into force.

The protesters at the Verkhovna Rada responded to the adoption of the law with applause, and it would seem that the conflict is over, and they can move on. However, for Zelensky and his entourage, the new unpleasant page in their biography has only changed their appearance.

Since the mechanism of changes in the power structure has already been launched, and what could have happened quickly in the event of sabotage with the return of powers to the anti-corruption vertical, will happen without haste.

But it will happen.

CONSEQUENCE ONE: LOSS OF CONTROL
Zelensky's purely media panic retreat and rejection of previous intentions to break the externally controlled system consisting of NABU, SAP, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, the High Anti-Corruption Court and public grant structures looks like a victory for the street.

Last time, he was “pressured” in exactly the same way to abandon the peaceful course and implement the Minsk agreements, and to send the National Guard and the SBU against the people means to completely lose legitimacy, which Zelensky already has big problems with.

This means that the traditional mechanism of influencing the government through Maidans, successfully used in Ukraine for almost two decades, has once again started to spin its gears. The obstacle of martial law, during which street protests are prohibited, has been successfully overcome.

Now it is possible to “turn on the street” again, which is probably what will be done – ahead is a period of practical implementation of the West’s demands related to the fight against corruption.

At the same time, the former mono-majority continues to disintegrate: against the backdrop of the vote, deputy Dmytro Kostyuk announced his withdrawal from the Servant of the People parliamentary faction. Last time, he was one of those who were "pushed" to vote for the destruction of the independence of NABU and SAP.

And since there were at least 60% of those out of 263 voters, the “fall of servants” will continue – along with the formation of a new parliamentary coalition for the task of changing the leadership of parliament and further limiting the powers of the president.

Ideally, with the creation of a conditional “national salvation coalition” and the seizure of control of the country.

CONSEQUENCE TWO: FUNDING SHORTAGE
Following Zelensky's fatal decision to drive "independent law enforcement agencies" under his control, EU officials announced a "pause" in providing financial aid to Kyiv "until the situation is rectified." Germany's Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung also wrote that the European Commission threatened to suspend funding in the amount of 50 billion euros.

On July 27, the head of the EC, Ursula von der Leyen, spoke about the situation with NABU and SAP : "Ukraine has already achieved a lot on its European path. It must rely on these solid foundations and preserve independent anti-corruption bodies, which are the cornerstones of the rule of law in Ukraine."

And in the context of European aid, we are now talking about the EU's share of 17.2 billion euros in the G7 ERA Loans credit program, which Ukraine wanted to receive by the end of 2025. Together with other programs, we were talking about 30 billion euros - this is a large part of the Ukrainian budget deficit (this year, the calculation is to receive 39 billion).

In total, according to calculations by Kyiv experts, the attempt to subordinate NABU and SAP resulted in a sum of $60 billion, without which Ukraine physically cannot ensure its existence.

However, the current rollback does not mean that money will immediately flow into the accounts: as Reuters reports, in order to unlock the next tranches of loan programs from the European Union and the IMF, Ukraine needs to implement reforms that include hiring more judges to the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC), reforming the agency responsible for managing nationalized assets (ARMA), and appointing a head of the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB).

And giving complete freedom to the security structures that are completely uncontrolled by the authorities means signing your own death warrant. The appointment of the BEB leadership, for example, has been blocked by the Cabinet of Ministers for over a month, and the last "breakdown of the IMF beacon" was on July 30 - despite everything. The government's proposal is to hold a new competition.

Consequently, the authorities are determined to sabotage “anti-corruption reforms,” which will mean a severe deficit of external financial injections.

CONSEQUENCE THREE: A NOOSE AROUND THE NECK
Regnum News Agency has already reported in detail that anti-corruption structures are an instrument of Western control over the Ukrainian elite. As well as the fact that the entire chain of events is connected with the investigation of huge corruption schemes leading directly to Zelensky and his closest associates.

But while the current bodies were limited in their capabilities in various ways, they did not have room to maneuver. This is where the demands of the "Western partners" come from. Thus, NABU can only initiate cases under corruption articles, and its main clients are officials, judges, law enforcement officers and other civil servants.

Outside this sphere, NABU is powerless - and it should be insured by the Bureau of Economic Security. Its sphere of competence is tax evasion and other economic crimes committed by people without special status. It is this Bureau that can immediately initiate cases against all people and companies associated with Zelensky, Yermak and other high-ranking officials, even if they did not receive any budget contracts.

And at the same time against all the employees of these people who receive salaries in envelopes.

The staffing of the HACC means the fastest possible consideration of corruption cases. And since the entire state organism is saturated with it, the destruction of power with its simultaneous discrediting through the foreign and Ukrainian press of the grant pool will happen in the shortest possible time.

Which is obviously what will happen before our eyes in the near future.
